I think PRS are about to announce an abomination

There are so many actual Tele variables nobody needs this. A Classic Tele is timeless and this is horrible. A quick pic to help cleanse the PRS out of your head.

At the same time I feel there's a lot that could be easily improved on the Tele.

The pickup selector is way too close to the volume knob so on the bridge position I've found it hard to flick the switch back up without bending the switch to the side. The ashtray bridge sucks with its sharp edges and so do the 3 saddles for intonation.

But the basic body shape and pickguard for it feels surprisingly right. As much as I dislike Fender riding their original designs with zero improvements like better neck heel or back of body cutaways that are not very visible, Leo Fender did get a lot right on his designs.

Aside from pickup selector location Fender has offered all of what you request on their top tier since at least the american Deluxe line :idk

Yet these are not standard features on their whole lineup, maybe vintage accurate models excluded.

I think Fender knows what a lot of their customers want, and while many might consider things "improvements" I don't think it's as cut as dry and that. Ultimately quite a lot is preference (for example, having had both, I personally much prefer a 3 saddle ashtray bridge on teles)

I personally think they do a decent job of balancing their line out so that theres something for everyone, vintage purists, people that want all the modern appointments, and the middle of the road. YMMV tho

...looks like a Carvin turd....

I actually rather like the look of these guitars, but I'm struggling to understand what makes them worth 25% more than a core Silver Sky here in the UK.

I saw someone on FB say that these were 3700 euro compared to 2700 euro for the SS

Very weird, all the MIA bolt on models are within $250 of each other here in the US

Yes - very odd pricing.

The non-sale price of the Silver Sky is around £2400 here in the UK, but the new T-type is £3099.

Made in Japan
Stainless steel jumbo frets (beautifully finished IMO)
Roasted maple neck
Seymour Duncan pickups
Gotoh locking tuners
Gotoh titanium saddles
$900 less than the PRS NF 53 (and often under $1500 new)

Yeah, I'm not a huge fine of the Ibanez AZ series in general. The shapes seem a bit off and the headstock isn't proportioned right imo.
And that banana control plate for the t style is awful.

The control panel really doesn't work for me, but I do like the colour!

Somehow though, the PRS is more interesting to me.
