I had one a long time ago. Some kid sold it to me for $25 (i think). He needed weed money. It was spray painted black. I got pink spray paint and painted what i thought would look like tiger stripes on it. It looked bad. I put a bunch of stickers on it after that. I don't know what kind it was , some people said it looked like a Hondo, some people said it was an Aria. Someone stole it out of my car along with my peavey backstage amp. I miss both the guitar and amp.
I'll probably post a video review soon, but here's some initial impressions for you guys.
GC told me they pulled this guitar out of the box this morning and it's nearly perfect. It just needs some minor setup work to my tastes for strings and string height. GC threw in a new set of my preferred 10's (it came with 9's) I'll need to change. There's some trem bar spring rattle I will want to address. Maybe I should get some of those green silent springs to match it. Other than that, it basically flawless. Pickups are very nice smooth and full tones. Guitar has remarkably excellent sustain in every pickup combo. Tone knobs have an interesting feature that clicks them set at max 10 I guess to remove them from the signal chain almost like a switch. The compound radius neck is super fast and comfy. It feels chunky without being like a baseball bat. The finish much more brilliant seen in person. The pickguard is flat black color with vertical milling like stripe marks. Very cool looking also in person.
I've played and owned strats from Suhr and Anderson. This Ultra II is right up there with them for less money. Great job Fender
