How do YOU organize your HX Stomp Presets?

Curious about how other HX Stomp users organize their presets and/or snapshots!

Do you cluster them based on recording context i.e. DIR: for direct tones, AMP: for front of amp, FXL: for FX loop etc.? If so, what are your naming conventions?

And/Or do you cluster presets based on genre/tone flavours?

How do you organize your stomp and snapshot modes in your presets?

Interested to hear!

I have 3 main presets (for different gear) that I use, and for each group of presets, (A, B, C, D) a 1/2 step down, "normal" tuning, and 1/2 step up.

So it goes:

For my Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40 :

A. 1/2 step down Normal
B. Normal
C. 1/2 step up Normal
D. Normal, but with a snapshot for the Ultra channel of the amp and tremolo (can't fit those on the normal preset).

For running in front of an amp:

A. 1/2 step down Casino
B. Normal
C. 1/2 step up Casino
D. unused

For Madison Square Bedroom or learning songs:

1. Headphones

For my Tech 21 Trademark 60 :

A. 1/2 step down TM60
B. Normal TM60
C. 1/2 step up TM60
D. unused

etc

That's a very clean way of organizing! Thanks!

My first 5 banks are logically organized with tons of beautiful tones I painstakingly developed when I first got the the Stomp. Then I started using it in the real world and basically just use patches 5C, 6A and 6B. I can’t even be bothered to move them to the same bank.

What do your 3 patches have? Broadly

I have a bunch of duplicate presets for certain guitars or cabs for direct and SS poweramp use. AC=AC30, HB=Placater, BD=Badonk, KAT=Creamback loaded Katana cab, PV=Peavey 2x12, PR=PRS S2, AZ=Ibanez AZ, ST=Strat. I have similar banks for 7 string, 8 string.

AC KAT AZ
HB KAT AZ
BD KAT AZ
AC KAT PR
HB KAT PR
BD KAT PR
AC KAT ST
HB KAT ST
BD KAT ST
AC PV AZ
HB PV AZ
BD PV AZ
etc...

Then some blank space till about bank 10 where I have a few presets set up for 4CM using a tube amp:

Clean
OD
Heavy
A few other random preset I don't use too often

Then some more blank presets until I get to what I call the "playground" section where I just make random presets and leave them there for testing out ideas and messing with shit, Bass presets, wacky presets, utility presets for IR making or A/B comparison between Preamps and amps, etc

This is a very nice naming scheme. Thanks for the tips Alex!

So sophisticated talk… organization and such…

I mostly go from a template that I name… template.. looks ugly as hell on the display. Embarrassing, but I’m the only one seeing it.

I have templates for elaborate stuff, like if i want to do freeze/hold type of things, there’s a template for that.

The template has input gate, volume block, fx loop, Adriatic delay in mono set to 1/4 at 120 bpm, amp+cab block (yeah… the stomp users best friend) and at the end a legacy room.
The only switch assignment I keep in the template is clean/dirt on one switch. I tend to make different types of switch and snapshots every time I play.

I work from there. The end of chain stereo reverb almost always gets deleted in the end, it’s just there to get a nice headphone feeling, and for casual noodling.

Anything I do gets saved either as a project name or song name so I can connect it to something in Logic or if it’s a IG thing. I usually export these presets so I don’t mess them up.

So I guess my preset are very home player oriented… not gigable at all.

Seriously the presets on my stomp are a complete mess. I change them all the time and never name them properly so it takes me ages to find the one I want.

I have just spent a few nights sorting the IRs on my stomp so maybe I should do the same with my presets.

Two are identical except for the amps being used. One is Litigator, one is Voltage Queen. They have Minotaur and Adriatic Delay and 3 snapshots - ambient reverb, edge of breakup and crunch.

The third patch is an acoustic setting for a piezo pickup on a Powerbridge.

I randomly make presets and then when there's a big update or when I get tired of having a bunch on there, I wipe everything and start over. If you can't tell I'm not very organized.
