House cleaning

I hired a house cleaning service to do some one-time deep cleaning and they’re here now working.

I feel guilty listening to them work. Like I want to go do the work for them! Or apologize for the mess, haha

I’ve never felt like such an elitist asshole before :rofl

Yeah, we talk about it from time to time, but I can't get comfortable with idea of having "help" (much less "servants" OMG) around the house, either.

Then there's the privacy factor, and then there's the control freak factor... we'd have to clean before, after, and probably during the professional cleaning. :D

I’m considering hiring someone to deep clean my apartment, I just need to be sure I won’t mentally beat the shit out of myself for being lazy after. I can maintain it fine, but a full-on, pull everything away from the walls, empty the cupboards and get every nook and cranny cleaning would go a long way for me, especially now that I’ve got Echo donating his fur to every object in the place.

Haha, my wife left the house for the day just so she doesn’t feel like she has to clean again once they’re done :rofl

I’ve never done something like this before, but we’ve got family coming to stay at our house next week while we’re gone and no time to clean the house before then.

Oh lordy ALL of this right here :rofl
My wife is the one who keeps circling back around to the idea, and in all fairness she does deserve a break. But she's also the major concern in terms of control so I don't see how it would ever work for her. She doesn't even like me loading the dishwasher for fear I'll put something in there sideways or something. :D Or wipe down two surfaces in the wrong order and give us all the plague. We're very fragile LOL.

We waited until my dog passed to do this deep ass cleaning for this purpose lol

SO MUCH FUR, he was part Husky.

Haha, are our wives related? :rofl

Sometimes we’re both like “we both know you’re just gonna do it again if I do it”

I try to time it so I can get them through the dishwasher and put away before she takes notice. There are few things more demoralizing than watching someone re-load a dishwasher you didn't want to load in the first place. :D

All the above is why I’ve found it’s best in my marriage that we each have “our jobs”. We ask each other for help if we’re swamped or something but I basically have my chores lol. Trash/heavy things/dehumidifiers/yardwork/any sort of construction or tool use. The rest is on her lol (she stays home and has more on her chore list than I do and it works out for us)

I get the vacuuming, the floors, bathrooms, anything pet-related (I'm "the poop guy"), and yeah, anything heavy/ outdoors but that's very occasional. Also, spiders. Wife gets dishes, usually, and our never-ending parade of laundry. Cleaning our bathrooms is like polishing the brass on the Titanic, though - we're a major remodel away from its not being a completely thankless, seemingly useless process. (And talk about being afraid to hire someone because you're a control freak...) So I'll procrastinate on that and do the dishes to make myself feel better. Which does not impress my wife. At. All. :D

Not sure why I'm sharing all of this LOL...

We’re similar. We each tend to have our realms we work within. It’s funny because we never talked about it or planned it that way, it just sort of naturally happened, haha.
