HILS Headless on the cheap. Seems too good to be true

The chances of a budget version working long term are pretty low. Lower costs production methods means low melting point or sintered metal . I would want to know exactly what it is made from.
This 100%. I’ve had enough Floyd Rose ‘licensed’ copies to know that a crappy made tremelo is a non starter for me. That’s what held me back from preordering one of these Hils. No slam on the company, I hope it’s a great product but not willing to drop coin on one without knowing for sure.

My only remaining reservations are the hardware. Unique design, relatively complex and no money in the pot to make it and then deciding to make a trem with the tuners in it is asking for trouble. The Steinbeger spirit has huge issues with trem failure due only to the metal being used is not strong enough for the design of the spigot the spring sits on. Fortunately for owners this unit is common and has been around since the late 80s. I remember getting the first failed ones in when I started out.

In Indonesia? Have you got links to the information?
Sorry, just saw this eagle. When I researched it, went to multiple sources. Btw.. I like your skepticism. To make it fun for you, I will bet you the Hils body is the mahogany I described. If someone here has a you tube channel I will put up 500 dollars against your 500 dollars that I can prove with an actual Hils guitar is the mahogany I described. We will let the neutral you tube channel hold the money and film a video and we will get a master woodworker to drill out a small piece of a Hils body and identify the wood. Will be fun for both of us, especially me since I have already done it :)

Boy you drilled a hole in your guitar to win an Internet argument?

Jut post a picture of one before it’s painted. I don’t gamble . It may be something Epiphone would call mahogany but would it be used for a PRS neck or body ( USA ) no.

You obviously have something to do with this company?

actually it is mahogany and I got it from the owner who is very reputable not only in guitars but other business ventures.
There are several diffrent kinds of wood being called mahogany these days. Here is a good article about the diffrent mahogany species (Swietenia) and also woods that are not Swietenia but are allowed by the Federal Trade Commission to be sold as mahoganies prefixed with another descriptor because of long standing usage of the term.

And most companies outside of high end don’t actually use anything that could be considered the same as a classic Gibson. Far more generic red ish fence post wood be closer. The actual material typically used by Epiphone and similar companies ( PRS se also) works nothing like and the structure is also very different. Tonal properties are also not the same.
On a $ 500 guitar I am more concerned about the quality of the work and the fret size ( not tall enough).

So are we down on these now or something? I received an offer from the manufacturer to purchase one for $450 but I am waiting to pay off the Strandberg first before I buy one. I don’t like having a balance on my credit account.

No just spam. They are very good for the money. That doesn’t mean they don’t have potential issues but they are a solid buy.

I've been playing my NEXT more than my other guitars lately. I just really dig the feel of it - this might be my headless guitar gateway. I did A/B it against my EBMM JP6 and Sabre to gauge the general tonality of the stock pickups. I found them to lack some sparkle and articulation compare to the pickups in the EBMM guitars, but I maintain my earlier comments about the guitar feeling good and playing well.
