What amps might be worth looking into if I were to swap the Twin Jet out for something else?
It is indeed, I love mine. The Deliverance 120 even more so.My Sig:X is a corpulent bastard.

Definitely want to try the Uber Ultra. It seems like Bogner is killing it lately. I actually just traded off both my Bogners yesterday. I'll definitely miss them, but I think they're going to continue to be devalued by the new ones. It seems like this is one of the few times an amp company is releasing new versions of their amps (the UU and 104B) that cover everything the old ones did, plus a ton more. I don't see many people wanting the old versions once the new ones become more prevalent on the market, so it was a good time to get rid of them while their value isn't in nosedive. I definitely see myself getting a UU in the future, it's probably the one I've continuously had GAS for since it came out and I'd also love to try the 104.Hard to give an opinion because I haven't played a lot of these amps and typically I dont A/B, it's usually sell one and buy one.
The widest sounding amp ive owned was an Ultra Lead. But it was the early 1994 version which was nowhere near agressive enough for me and the 100CL smoked it.
With that said ive never tried a Blue Uber but I owned a Rev 2 for years, spent a lot of time on a Twin Jet and now own an Ultra.
To me the Ultra has the best tone ive ever had in my life but I go for nasty death metal sounds.
The issue that I have with the Ultra, also the same issue I had with the Rev 2 is getting buried at band practice. I dont know what it is about the Ubers but it is something for sure. I have a funny thread on a Facebook group that maybe some of you have seen about it.
I will be testing slight mid bumps with my EQ pedal however in general, to get that nasty tone I like with the band at full volume I basically have to turn up LOUD. And I mean very loud and too loud where nobody's going to like you. It is a fucking monster tbh.
Could also crank the mids of course but then that nasty tone turns into more of a yeah, I want a Mesa. I keep my mids at 11:00 flow.
I know im all over the place but TL;DR the Ultra is the nastiest amp ive ever had and I love it but it doesnt come without its struggles. The best Uberschall revision as far as im concerned.
I had the GH50L and it was a cool amp. Can't remember if I ever tried the 100, but I also feel like I have my British sounds down already.id say my Laney GH100S, unboosted its usually too fat and burly for what i tend to go for, its far from american sounding though and kind of polar opposites from what i hear in engl or vht. the days im in the mood for slower sludgy sabbath kind of riffs, thats my first pick
Definitely need to try this one. I loved the MT15, I just found it a bit one dimensional. Don't get me wrong, it was a great sound, but it was basically just clean and metal and that's it, not even much variation on those two sounds either. The Dumble channel on the 100 honestly has me the most intrigued, but I've also heard the lead channel can get tighter like the Archon.I'd recommend you check out the PRS Mark Tremonti MT100. The Lead channel on that thing is amazing & the amp sounds huge.
The Ironheart is actually one I've always been curious about but I don't see them often anymore. The older Laneys were great, but I didn't find them much different, or better than, the Marshalls that were similarly priced at the time.I fucking love those older Laneys. The Ironhearts sucked. But the GH100/50, and VH100R ... delish!
I'd like to try a newer SLO. I had the OG one in like 2012 and I thought it was cool, but it was a very smooth and fat amp. Great for leads but I preferred my 5150's aggression.Soldano SLO
Modded JCM 800
Definitely curious about this one but hard to find in the US. If one ever comes up and I'm in a position to grab it, I definitely will!RedSeven Leviathan
Honestly, I think I'll probably make it back to Fryette at some point. There's something about them that I just find super interesting in the voicing but I always end up falling out of love with them quickly. I think it's the KT88 power sections that just don't do it for me, but I do really want to try a Deliverance and SigX again, regardless. It is indeed, I love mine. The Deliverance 120 even more so.
I've always said the Sig:X is a scalpel and the D120 is a sledgehammer.

Rectos definitely have a big sound, but I find their tone to be tiring after a while. Other people make them sound awesome, especially on recordings, but ultimately they are just not really my thing.Unless search failed me, we’re in dire need of an all encompassing thread for celebrating all things Mesa Rectifier.
We yearn for your Rectifiers. Bring us your triples, duals, singles, and yes…even your huddled minis.

I always think huge is large in the bottom and cuts through the mix is large in the middle... like me.But a lot of times huge amps get buried in the mix.
I know. It's an oxymoron.

Agreed, I don't want one of those. I want an amp that has both the cut and the yugeee. This is the problem. There's not many of them. That said, it probably doesn't matter either way to me cause I don't play with a band anymore, nor do I have any plans toBut a lot of times huge amps get buried in the mix.

JCM800s are great but would only work for me with a boost. Not sure I'd classify them as "huge" sounding either, unless we're just going fully based on volume. They're definitely loud, but I wouldn't say they have a wide sound to

FWIW, I ended up trading my Twin Jet yesterday for a Revv Generator 120 Mk3 .
Agree 100% about the Bogners.Definitely want to try the Uber Ultra. It seems like Bogner is killing it lately. I actually just traded off both my Bogners yesterday. FWIW, I ended up trading my Twin Jet yesterday for a Revv Generator 120 Mk3 and I think this amp is very misunderstood. Yes, it can sound sterile AF and very boring, but once you start getting into the extreme ends of its EQ, it really comes to life. I think they did a disservice to it making the EQ not do much in 90% of the range. It can sound very aggressive and raw if you crank the presence and aren't afraid to move the knobs. I A/B'd it with my Savage yesterday and was able to get a similar fatness out of it while still be super tight. Definitely digging it - I 100% didn't give the 100R I had a few months ago enough of a chance before.
I really hope Fryette prices come back down. The prices on those went crazy after the supply directly from them seemed to dry up. I remember you used to see the Deliverance and 50CL sit on GC's used site for months under $800.Agree 100% about the Bogners.
Sure maybe some very negligible differences but I agree. Local Twin Jet been sitting for months for a decent price tbh.
I will say some people will still say oh the Rev 2 is better and try to get 4k....someone will pay it but thats insanity to me, ive had both and will take the Ultra any day of the week.
If youre anywhere near St louis youre welcome to try it out.
I think (and hope) the same thing happens with Fryette. Pitbull 2 coming soon and I would not mind seeing the prices on the old models go back to where they should be.
Dude is selling a D120 with loop I believe for $1,500 which this day and age I consider a really good price.Loved the Deliverance 60 I used to have. Should have never sold that one.
I sent my D120 to Fryette and had the loop installed as well as a relay switch option for the Less/More switch. The two together made a big difference in utility.Dude is selling a D120 with loop I believe for $1,500 which this day and age I consider a really good price.
So... This happened:
I was feeling pretty good about the Revv. It could get a similar chunk to my Savage with some more extreme EQing, but... Then the MI showed up today and now the rest of my amps sound like toys
Good God, now I wish I would've ordered one of these back in 2021 cause this thing sounds INSANE.
I'd love to compare the Beta. I know when I was going to order a new one in 2021, I was specifically looking at the Gamma because I didn't think the Beta would really offer me anything more than the Gamma for what I'd use it for, but the prices on used Betas now are crazy, if you can even find one. Oh well, hindsightLooks like we're digging the same gain tones.
I've been thinking about picking up a REVV Generator 120 MK3 for a while now as well as a Megalith Beta.

The MI Megalith Delta has been my main high gain pedal for a few years now.

Definitely hindsight. I believe I got the last Beta he ever made, my dumbass sold it not knowing it would be extinct.I'd love to compare the Beta. I really think the Revv is a pretty misunderstood amp. I hear it being called lifeless and boring all the time and, yes, it can definitely get those sounds... But also if you're not afraid to turn knobs outside of your comfort zone from most other amps, it's got some great sounds in there. The features on it are also really hard to beat. I had the 100R a while back and thought it was cool, but everyone kept telling me the Purple channel is the best. Now that I can A/B both, I honestly find them both to be very similar. With how I have the Red channel set up, I still think I prefer it![]()
