Helix Stadium Agoura Amps Sneak Peek video

Holy balls. Here’s the transcript. What I’m saying is, this level of detail has been captured before, just not by L6. So to pretend this is some untrodden foray in the modeling universe is that same language that DI has openly said he dislikes.

Hopefully this helps you understand.

Gotta agree with others, pretty shit take here.

You (and me, and everyone who doesn’t work at L6) has no idea how they’re doing their modelling. When I read “completely new modelling methodology” the only way I can interpret that is that they know how others are doing things and they’re…. Wait for it…. Using a new modelling methodology.

Having a high level understanding of how things work like a car, helicopter and amp modelling doesn’t mean there isn’t loads of different approaches that can yield better or worse results.

Anyway I’m not trying to pile on but you called it out and the language they’ve used seems totally fine and not really marketing bs.

I'm a simple man - so lets not speak in code here - lets be clear and unambiguous about the subtext.

There is a view by some, that Fractal invented the "wheel" and no-one knows how to make a better "wheel" than them. Those same people also believe that no-one will ever build a "better wheel"

Personally - I think that to the extent that that maybe was the case ~10 years ago or so .... those days are now long one.

It is quite possible - or not - that whatever Agoura does, is a "better wheel" and maybe a "better wheel" overall moving forward than anyone else.

None of us have any f&cking idea yet.

Yet somehow, its OK for Fractal to find a better way to model a "Johnson rod" and that's a groundbreaking epiphany celebrated in an almost Biblical way by their acolytes - yet when another company openly says they have built a better way for them to do something, and perhaps some of their new way is not being done by anyone else, that's crass, cheap, hypocritical marketing b.s.

One word ... "gameboy"

Funny. For me it was so obvious they meant "new for Line6 and Helix". Otherwise they should add whatever words needed for the audience to understand they're comparing themselves to all competitors.

But if you've followed Line6 a bit, you know that's not their style. And that attitude is one of the reasons users trust them and preorder the Stadium without having listened anything from it.

If you have reasons to think Line6 is as arrogant as you're implying, the fair thing is to talk about them so we all know.

I think you’ve completely misread my words or tone. I think Line6’s verbiage is above board and makes sense, nothing shady to see there at all.

As much as I like our Marketing team, there's always a bit of back-and-forth to get something that doesn't offend one of our sensibilities (namely mine or Igor's) and I had to learn to just let some of the minor things go. Yes, the intent was that Agoura's modeling methodology is new to us, but my understanding is that there are indeed several unique tools in there that aren't currently being done by anyone else.

But yeah, I generally loathe market-speak, but y'know what I loathe even more? Annoying my wife because the Saturday afternoon email/text/Teams rabbit hole with our copywriter has stretched into three hours.

(Drew, not being bitter AT ALL !!)

What's hilarious is that those P&W guys made a 20+ minute video talking about this 59 second video. No demos are out there, yet these windbags think people want to watch/listen to their opinions. YouTube seems full of self-important people who have nothing to contribute yet think their stupid chats are worth making a video of. I'm looking forward to hearing the isolated demos and will probably get a Stadium at some point.

You saw the part where I conceded my original point right? As I said to @Chocol8 starfish, I don’t know what more you want.

Also if you read my comments I never called it marketing bs. I was very clear what I thought was ironic about the video. Maybe rereading it will make it clearer - you may still disagree with it, and that’s fine. I pulled back myself, but don’t put words in my mouth, mmkay?

Well yes and no
To be fair they are guys that actually have hands on time with the stadium so IMO they certainly are more qualified to give somewhat of an opinion to how it sounds compared to the guy in his moms basement saying 10 reasons why I won’t be buying the new Helix stadium

That said, I do get your point and it was a bit long for what they were discussing

Oops. Yes, I took it as you were thinking Line6 was comparing themselves with their competitors. And tbh, I re-read your post and I still have a hard time to see the intention was the opposite ^_^U But I guess I'm getting lost in translation.

All good, safe to say we’re all excited to get our hands on it!

IMO, that beats where the TMP was at launch by a mile, and it doesn't count all of the legacy amps from the Helix. Amazing what you can accomplish when you're not prioritizing Blues Juniors and Bassbreakers.

I'm guessing they've moved on from elaborate Hammerstein-Weiner techniques, to more and more component level modelling. I don't really know for exact though:
