(First of all: @Digital Igloo, is Line6 Ideascale gone? I went there to post this but I found everything is empty. Not sure if it's just temporarily down or gone forever)

Now, regarding the feature, I posted it in the Helix thread with less details, and I thought I'd post it in a separate thread to check if people would find it interesting or if I'm missing anything.

The feature: a new parameter "Tap/Tuner behavior" in global settings, with options "Default" and "Alternate".

Default behavior would be the current one.

Now, in Alternate behavior:

-The tap/tuner FS LED starts off instead of blinking. You are in "Tuner enable mode in Alternate tap/tuner FS behavior".

-Pressing tap/tuner FS instantly opens the tuner (yay!). LED could be always on, which might help on certain sunlight conditions, for instance in case you accidentally press tap/tuner FS and can't see the tuner in the screen. Pressing it again exits tuner and LED is off again.

-Holding the tap/tuner FS enables setting tap tempo (aka "Tap tempo mode in Alternate tap/tuner FS behavior"). LED blinks on tempo to indicate you're on that mode, so you know that pressing the FS will change tempo instead of showing the tuner. Hold again to go back to "Tuner enable mode in Alternate behavior".

This would keep current functionality intact and add a new one that I think would be really convenient for many people.

You would also loose nothing from the default behavior, because in this alternate mode you could leave either "Tuner enable mode" or "Tap tempo mode", and on reboot, you could just recover the last mode you were in instead of always starting in tuner mode (and if this wasn't technically possible, I wouldn't mind having to anyways start in "tuner mode" on every reboot in exchange to being able to enable tuner instantly).

In my case, I heavily prefer instant access to the tuner than to the tap tempo, and you would also get "insta-mute" for free, instead of using one of the ABCD footswitches, a dedicated snapshot or the expression pedal to quickly mute.

Hope it makes sense :)

Just so I don't miss anything... So a second TAP/TUNER switch behavior where holding the switch toggles between TAP and instant Tuner? Seems pretty straightforward.
