Headrush Flex Prime

v4.1 Firmware update

Cool . I’ve always liked the display of the head rush since it came out, but I was not too thrilled with the tones I was getting or the variety of effects quality to me. It seems like head rush, seems to rebrand themselves by old technology and just stamped their name on it and throw it in their units
It’s too bad if they really put a lot of R&D into modeling and effects their units could be much better but for the price point I’ll always see head rush is being similar to Behringturd or zoom

Fingernail polish? I'm out.

In all seriousness, how are these guys pouring more development and love into their platform than Neural DSP?!?!

That's insane to me. Funny enough, the bandmate I have that uses his Headrush Core on everything will probably never download this. I don't know if he's ever updated his unit. He's got his factory presets that do what he needs them to do, and he needs little else (although he's been using their synth presets more lately on a side project - yet another area they've lapped NDSP in.....).

Cool, like actually nice to see that they're updating and polishing stuff.
Such a shame that they decided to spit on their OG userbase.

Superclone: Combine several subpar clones into one truly horrible one.
I'm actually really surprised at how good the superclones sound (when done right of course). I'm testing a Core right now and it's going well.

In a YouTube review, listening with headphones, don't remember which one, I liked the HR captures just as much as the best of the shootout. Better than kemper for sure. But the "expert" that was making the comparison talked about getting somehow disconnected with the HR. For him, it was the worst because of the feeling, not the tone.

I don't know if that was due to the latency or whatnot. But... The tone was great and close to the source.

How do you feel it, compared to your kemper?

Agree with this… if they did evolve their own stuff it could be a lot better vs using up old tech and throwing it in the unit.

OK first rehearsal with the HR Core and Dunlop DVP3 expression pedal. I was on bass. GREAT night, sounded punchier than the Kemper and much easier to tweak on the fly. Is it a keeper? Not sure. It all depends on if I can somehow keep two Core units in sync with each other. One at home (also as a backup) and one for gigging. I guess I could use USB drives but you can't do full backups and full restores, which is REALLY stupid.

Oh yeah I forgot they were the company behind the Eleven Rack. That was a really good unit for its time tbh.
"Borrowing" from other companies is lame though.
They're really not. They just bought the technology. Nobody at HR worked at Eleven AFAIK. So they aren't really the company behind anything.

Yeah, I upgraded my Pedalboard to the Prime. I really like it. It's not that different except I really like the quality of life upgrades. And there are some very cool captures out there for free on the Headrush Cloud. I primarily use captures in my presets/rigs now.

But then again, unlike some very vocal users on this forum, I really enjoyed the Headrush Pedalboard as well. More than the Helix Floor. Yes, I know: It's blasphemy. Or just really bad taste.
Bought an MX5 after seeing Nili Brosh use a Pedalboard at a show where she was sitting in with a band a few years back. She sounded good but I see her using Mesa amps again now so not sure if she still does. Neck and back issues made using the MX5 w/o remote UI problematic for me so the MX5 went bye. Went back to using my NUX MG-30 but missed the advanced functionality of the MX5. Really liking my Flex Prime now. The guitarists in my son's band all use FP and he's likely going to get one for bass as well. Since I go to a few of his shows I've seen a lot of young players using FP as well (not Core or Prime really). I think if HR keeps up with updates with occasional new amps/effects they might gain a little marketshare.
