Hopefully I'll be out of my "can't seem to pick up a guitar" phase by then!

Looking forward to it Wily!

This is the first forum I’m actually engaged in and dedicated time to.

I have a curse where I just don’t follow through with ideas, I blame it on having a pre teen girl in the house that demands most of our attention and energy 😂
Yeah, it can be tough to make the time. I never posted tracks at TOP, this is the only forum I ever have. Thank goodness for the challenge threads, they've really pushed/inspired me into writing more frequently. Even if it's just straightforward guitar riffs/solos or the ambient stuff, it's become fun again.

Man, I was just happy even 1 person started doing it when it first started, seeing we’re up to 65 now is AWESOME. Especially when you consider some of the guys who started contributing never even opened a DAW before and jumped in headfirst by either buying or plugging in the gear they needed for it, learned how to use it within a week or so and then posted their work for all to hear, that’s really fucking badass! Creative freedom is of utmost importance to me on a personal level, so just knowing a few people were turned onto it already exceeded my expectations for ‘success’ for this forum and everything else has been cherries on top since.

And you do an outstanding job as the ringleader, to the point I certainly should have included you in the first post in this thread, though mentioning it separately allowed for a little more insight than what I would have stated in the first post. Thank you for your work there, MD, I know it’s not always fun to do and can be thankless, but your effort is GREATLY appreciated and you’re regularly giving people a reason to exercise their own creative freedom, so thank you!!!

Thanks for the kind words Drew! I am honored to be helping to get others sharing their music with the world ;~)) The only thing I don't like about being the ringleader is I don't like crowning myself as the winner of a contest that I am administering. It just does not feel right and that is why I held back on the first two seasons I was admin. This latest season, I decided to give up on that worry and will from hear on out, ringleader or not, submit all my BS ;~))

The old "if you help one person it is worth it" is true here though, for me anyway! It is so because of my history with music. Having been a musician all of my life (not by choice), I rejected a career in music and even participation in it for many years for two reasons. One was the game that is the music industry that I was certain I did not want to play. The other was me feeling the "I'm not worthy" BS. Both were spawned from the fact that music is my religion. So to get involved with a career in music, I would be slutting out any skills I might have to try to "make it", and I don't ever want such influences to alter what I do musically, because it is my religion. With the "I'm not worthy" bit, because of how much I love and worship at the altar of music, I often felt that music was a magic that my contributions would stain! I am over the second one now and have stained many genres and have even moved on to staining other peoples music by covering it. As for the first one, the whole music "game" has gotten even worse, so I just sit back and do what makes me happy, which is write and play music, mine and that of other folks (which I destroy through simplification and mediocre playing) ;~)) Point is, my musicality had been self suppressed much of my life, so if I can get anyone to step forward with theirs, it is a personal victory for me as I have been in their position!

Anyway, I hope we can get more participants for Season 10 and beyond. If anyone has any ideas on how we can light a fire under some arses, let us/me know, I am willing to put in the efforts to motivate more participants ;~))

TL;DR - Get off your arse and share some of your gear output with us in the Do Something Challenge!!!

I have the very same excuse... but then I remember that I was damned lazy beforehand, as well.
I had a sort of shitty band going when I was 20, but any success I had in songwriting was because the lead guitarist in the band basically held my hand and helped me get it out of my head. Now I mainly just work on my chops over and over and over, writing a riff or two here and there and then get caught up in Call of Duty or something with the little free time I have 😂

All same, except add 10 or 15 years to my age, and the lead guitarist who might have been helping me out was my own lazy self. :P

Man, I could write a book on this exact stuff. I get it, thoroughly.

Some recent experiences completely wiped away any fears of worthiness and I’ll just say that I strongly feel that if we have the abilities, it’s because we’re worthy of having them. One step further than that, I don’t believe anyone is given abilities as those are developed as a result of the drive and passion we’re instilled with from the very start. I’d get into rule-breaking if I went any further than that.

Opening line of the title track of the new album is "Knock Knock Knock, time to unlock a little creativity". Closing line of last verse in that song is "Knock Knock Knock, you are the only lock on your creativity". I think that sums it up for me ;~))
