Want to say hi to all!
I am new here (thanks for letting me join), and am more of an amp guy when it comes to gear nerd talk.
So I consider this thread a good way to say hello
Amps I bought, in "historical" order beginning way back in 1993. I don't own them anymore though ...
- Peavey Envoy 110 (aluminum+ blue stripe) 1993
- Hughes & Kettner Attax 100 Combo (carpet-like fibre coated) 1994
- Marshall JCM 900 4500 Dual Reverb 1995
- Marshall JCM 800 2210 Split Channel 1997
- Marshall Jubilee Combo 2554 1998
- Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50 1999
- ENGL Blackmore 100 2000
- ENGL Savage 120 2001
- Diezel VH-4 (only for some weeks, didn't like it) 2003
Around 2004 / 2005 I started building my own amps.
I started by mixing elements of different amps together, which evolved to an ENGL like topology over the years but with a kinda marshallized EQ-curve.
This would last until 2015, when I started to built clones of known amps, but often with some smaller changes to make them fit my needs.
So on we go with the list of clones (* = still own):
- Friedman Small Box 2015
- Lunchbox-sized ENGL Savage ch 3+4 topology 50W EL34 2016, converted to Savage specs 2022, converted to Fryette-ish specs (new PCB) 2023 (*)
- Marshall Jubilee 50W Mini Head 2017 (*)
- Lunchbox sized Carvin X100b based channel switcher 50W EL34 2017, converted to hotrodded 2204/Friedman JEL 2021 (*)
- Fryette Deliverance 60 2021/2022 (*)
- Soldano SLO 50W EL34 (*)
- 50W EL34 bastard of Wizard MC Lead and SLO-ish Clean/Crunch (*)
As of today, the two Fryette(-ish) amps I absolutely like best, especially in a band situation.
For home use I also enjoy the SLO (which I modded a little for more tightness in the lead channel), also the Jubilee, and the Wizard/ SLO bastard. All go through a simple reactive load attenuator.
Thanks for your attention and sorry for that nerdy introduction of mine!
