Gee whiz, modeling is dead!

Modeling may very well be dead. But I still sure do like the way the Axe-FXIII sounds. I still like the way the Helix sounds. Even though I now have a Kemper, Tonex and the Mooer devices, I still really like component modeling.

Just for my workflow now though, capture technology seems to be better for me. That may change next week or next year, but for right now, I enjoy working with captures more.

I don’t really care how we arrive at the sounds, as long as they’re good, and they’re flexible. Right now, only modeling offers the latter.
As for the YouTubers, they need to get a regular job, and/or start streaming Warzone or Minecraft. Then they can make some real money. 😂

Bah. Hack frauds. Get a proper amp and then we'll talk!

So genuine question - what kind of videos do people want to see?

Me personally, real information not some infomercial and I dont need to see you play through half the video.

For example, I recently DL'd Tonex CS and I am running it through my Catalyst. I could not find hardly any videos of how to set it up properly, how to use the software, how Tone.net integrates, what the hell Amplitude is really for, etc. But I found literally hundred's of videos pitching product like I was watching Home Shopping Network.

I get it, we are a consumer society, but come on it's pretty obvious you gave the "Insert Pretentious YouTube Influencer" free gear to tell us how great it is and it's the latest and greatest and we need to run out and buy it NOW!!!

I've always liked Pete Thorn's approach. Play said gear in a song context, then just enough talking to describe features, and then a bit more sound tweaking to show the range of said gear.

I’m a big fan of Pete’s vids and on the flipside, I dig Ola’s vids where he opens something up, plugs it in and goes for it right there without knowing at all what he’s doing. I don’t really consider those Ola videos demos as at most he’s talking about features he hasn’t explored yet and I suppose I see them as the only part of an unboxing video I give a damn about; actually plugging the sh*t in.

One thing I think would go a long way and Pete did this in a forum post after the fact, but we often see the end result of geartubers testing out gear with other gear to get it to sound the best. I’d love to hear all the stuff it DIDN’T work with. When Pete did the SLO pedal he caught a lot of sh*t, as usual, because he made it sound good. He explained later at TheOtherPlace that he tried it with a few amps and didn’t get good results. I’d almost expect that to become a demand as time goes on and more people get sick of feeling like they’re watching commercials when they’re watching a gear demo.
