Friedman Jose Arredondo Signature Amplifier

My biggest apprehension is that I’ve yet to see a Friedman NOT depreciate massively.

I'd imagine the limited/raffle aspect of this will keep them above the $3500 mark for years to come.

Dave said they won’t be limited. 🤷‍♂️ Just slow build as he’s doing them mostly himself I believe he said in one of the recent Tone Talks. He’ll make them until demand dries up or parts aren’t available. So who knows…

No shit! I had it in my head these were limited to 100-200 or something. That's pretty cool then, I'd fine waiting one out until prices drop!

I'd be super curious to see how well these sell in Europe. At first, I thought it wouldn't even be brought here, because these types of super limited production rarely do. But Thomann is actually listing it for 4800€. At that price, it's currently ranking it at 245th place in sales rank amongst tube guitar heads category which is... very low.

I guess it's difficult to compete in Europe where we can get a brand new 1959HW for 2000€. Or a used Marshall for a great price. I think most people prefer that and just boost it with SD1. Sure, it won't be exactly the same sound but very similar (plus the Marshall badge factor) for more than half the price.

Well, Friedman has not even finished fulfilling his initial waiting list yet. So I am sure Thomann won't have them for a while, even though they're "listing" it. The listing is probably a placeholder and the ranking reflects 0 sales since it's not been in stock to begin with.

I doubt it. I can place an order for it today. It says delivery 5-7 weeks, which probably just means "it'll arrive when it arrives". This is the norm for many of the US brand amps here in Europe, very long delivery times. But the sales statistics is not based on how many delivered, it's based on how many people buy it, regardless if they have received it or not. So no, I think the sales statistics is accurate.

But sure, I'll give you that perhaps people are not wanting to place orders before they have a lower delivery estimate since you have to actually purchase it full price, not just a placeholder fee, and paying almost 5000 euro without getting anything for it, and no real assurances when you get it, might put most people off.

But looking at Friedman's in general, for instance JEL-20 is on place 107, JEL-50 is at 139, Plex is at 95. Not really selling that many it seems.
Thomann is however only 1 store, hence why I was curious if people are ordering these amps here or if they're just bottom fodder in Europe.

I could imagine that it it could be difficult for boutique Marshall inspired brands to reach success here since the real Marshall brand amps are so cheap so the idea of paying 3 times a Marshall on something that will be more difficult to get support and repair work done on it might not be that appealing to people.

Correct, Dave Friedman said in that Podcast with @Burger w/ Headfirst Amps that they are building them but lead time is 2-3 weeks from order to ship here in the US so that would make sense. 2-3 weeks to build and another 2-3 weeks to get to Thomann and out to the customer.

I assumed that they are not mass producing them yet for stock after hearing the podcast.

My number got pulled for mine but I let it lapse. Couldnt quite muster the enthusiasm to pull the trigger.

I really do not like the pay now, get later motto. Consumers have allowed it to be much more prevalent over the last decade or so.

Me either. Is that mainly a Europe thing? I don’t see it much here in the US. Maybe I just haven’t run across it though.
I could be wrong but I think literally every manufacturer in the music industry who is not big enough to stock items at Sweetwater, Guitar Center, etc. does this.

At the very least they require a deposit up front. Pretty much all of them. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I also won't do this. I have before and never will again. With that said there are companies out there like Friedman for example who i fully believe would never screw anyone over. Either way it is a gamble that I won't take.

I see. Yes, it sucks that that’s the case for Friedman there. But I absolutely agree that Friedman is a guy I trust. His availability and responsiveness is one of the things I admire about him. I also think it’s just awesome that he gave Cantrell and Stevens signature amps.

Well Thomann charges when they ship.
And they also have shipped with 2 week invoice to me.
