Friedman Jose Arredondo Signature Amplifier

I’ll never understand the ‘iPhone demo of how someone’s room sounds’ aspect of iPhone gear demos. But this isn’t a high gain amp and Jon’s a high gain player (though I don’t think his vid sounded bad at all, he’s just not a Plexi dude. Gilmour wouldn’t sound badass on a boosted 5150 just the same) Dave said he had zero interest in sending this out to the usual geartubers and if he did, it’d be going to guys who know how to milk everything they can out of a Plexi.

Plexi’s are the ultimate proof of tone being in the hands, no additional gain stages are going to change that. They can’t be played like a 5150 or Dual Rec and to really grasp what they have to offer some experience with Plexi’s is a bit of a requirement and I’d imagine having an idea of the lineage of this amp would go a long way as well. I’m sure a few people are going to get one thinking it’s the ultimate Marshall, but that’s not this amp.
And as a result Gilmour would never demo a high gain amp.
The videos I posted are the tones people who would buy this amp are going for -modded high octane 80's tones

The guys I know with walls of boutique heads are saying it is in fact the ultimate Marshall and beyond otherwise I would have never gotten on the list! I won't even use the plexi side unless I want a lower gain crunch but I have that tone dialed with my JEL 50 head

I have been fortunate to own a Jose for about 6 weeks. I like all forms of rock and love 60s and 70s Marshalls. This amp is incredible and very versatile. Dave did a great job with the layout and as I mentioned and not enough people are talking about how you can get such a variety of tones depending on how you dial it in.

I do also agree that it is cleans up REALLY well with the volume knob on your guitar.

I have been fortunate to play a lot of Daves amps over the years and this is definitely my favorite. of his amps. If you are looking for a modern metal amp or a channel switcher, this is not the amp for you but man I dig it.

I tried the amp with 6 other players, so this will hopefully give a good idea of what the amp is capable of:

Man what a dream to have so many guitarists demo an amp in the one space. I personally liked Mendels and Carstens playing the most, but was refreshing hearing the other stuff too.

If only I played more than punk and metal rhythm myself 🤣. One day I’ll have Friedman money, they are incredible.

I would have to imagine these guys all grew up in the era where Jose’s were pretty much for rockstars only who had access to Jose himself, or they’re like me and just have an affinity for the history of gear/Marshall tones. The generation that came right after that (mine) came out of the gate with high gain amps readily available and generally had a lot more flexibility in the way of channel switching and effects loops that didn’t require running the signal into the power section. Just use this forum as an example- there’s a good chunk of members buying JVM’s or DSL’s, but would probably not be nearly as interested in a Jose modded Plexi.

Edit- @SonicBlue’s post is right in line with what I was thinking when writing this post.
