Possible the best idea to post this here instead of the recording sub-forum:

Haven't tried it yet, but it seems very straightforward.

This is the old MLSTool app with a new name. I think they just wanted to give it a more descriptive name, so they renamed it recently. Yes, it is a very good capture utility.

I'll have to give it another try. I really wanted to use it a year or two back, but something didn't work for me and I gave up. I can't remember what now., and perhaps I didn't use it right and I am the problem.
These days, I tend to just use ReaVerb in Reaper, or the stock convolution tool in Studio 1, for sweeps.

There's also a really nice new option here by Ghost Note Audio, which is a bit of a different idea using white noise instead, but definitely really good for anything like tone matching, and making cab IRs:

That's an excellent tool (opened a new thread in the recording section a while ago already), but it's not suitable for longer IR types (such as reverb IRs), and it's also not capturing any time-relevant aspects, from all I know (which might be relevant for some cab IRs as well).

Not exactly. MLStool still exists separately. The IR Capture tool has a couple options different from the MLStool.

Corrected below.

It was renamed in December to "IR Capture" and there have been a couple of updates to add new features since then, but the last version (1.0.5) that had the name MLSTool is still available for download.

Anyway, it's a great utility for what it does.

Gotcha. I thought they “forked” it to add some niceties specifically for IR capture functionality.
