Fractal Audio Systems AM4 - Amp Modeler

It can; it's the silly little 1/8" stuff. But it does allow for Start/Stop/Overdub/etc over MIDI, which is very handy. Then of course the AM4 is MIDI, the Collider is MIDI.
I'm using the Luminite for my FM9+VP4 board now and it's pretty cool once you get past the UI. The wireless controllers are also nifty. And the BT stuff has been handy as it let me drop the page turner pedal I had for BandHelper from my board -- now I just have page up/down, next/previous song buttons on the Luminite.

Oh it does BT as well? I missed that part. That's really cool.

You can actually SPDIF 4CM them now too.
That's what I thought it should do from the start. So it can do something like:

2x VP4 pre fx -> SPDIF out -> AM4 SPDIF In ->
AM4 SPDIF out -> VP4 SPDIF in -> 2x VP4 post fx -> VP4 analog out or AM4 insert loop?

When I use both together, I just go guitar -> (maybe another pedal) -> VP4 -(SPDIF)-> AM4. I put the amp block first in the AM4, so I can get 4 effects before and 3 after. Might not work for everyone, but I like it.

Yeah that's exactly how I would want to run it!!

I'm really getting vibes about selling my Axe3 and getting an AM4 to pair with my VP4; slap them both on a pedalboard for home use, and calling it done. I think I'd use it way more than the Axe3. I have the QC and Stadium, but I like to have different options.

I'd want 4CM because the AM4 doesn't have the Multitap and Plex Delay blocks for example, which I'd like to run after the amp/cab. If it did, your setup would be perfect.

That's where I am going. Ordered a VP4, am going to run that with pedals in front of it and VP4 outputs going into left and right instances of Icons for double Super Reverb fun. Morningstar MC6 Pro controlling everything. VP4 should be landing on Thursday. In the future, AM4 calls.

I simply love this little device!

The future has arrived. Emailed over the weekend to get on the wait list, response today saying I can have one before general release. Waiting for the invoice now :)

Do post a review!

It will be here tomorrow, just had the DPD email. Shifting some things around at home now in order to fit everything in.

The VP4 is going post-AM4 because of my stereo FX obsession. Initially we're looking at four dirt pedals going into the AM4. Compressor, Delay, Reverb, Amp and Cabinet. VP4 will be delay-delay-delay-chorus/pitch set to pitch chorus. Outputs from the VP4 will then get routed into one track of Reaper so I can audition the VP4 against Helix Native. I know that the amps on the AM4 beat everything else I've owned/own but the effects route is a little more nuanced. It'd be good to go for some like for like chains in VP4 and Helix Native to hear the difference.
