I for one think the Golden is great! It would be a nice addition/alternative to the Fractal reverbs in my AM4, but I’ve so far ended up using mine on a small board alongside an analog drive, El Cap and a Tonex One.

But nothing ever made me GAS for a Deusenburg until he started complaining so much about them

Sounds like shite to me. People can pry my Deusenberg star player in sparkly black out of my cold dead hands. It’s a magnificent guitar with utterly exemplary build quality.

I might give the HX Effects a try. You can pick them up all day long under $400, and I've always liked Helix stuff.

How do you find the FF into your HX stomp? I always struggled running a FF into my stomp, I didn't think it sounded very good.

It's virtual "amp dependent".

No seriously, I've gotten pretty cool recorded tones with a FF into an HX. I probably used a plexi model.

Sounds great to me, I love it. I think the cab/IR is the most important factor followed by the amp model. I like the Ventoux or the Super Reverb with the 112 open cast cab or a single mic York Twin IR. I haven’t tried it with a Marshall/celestion combo because it’s just not my thing, it’s probably just me but I think 412 celestion IRs make everything sound weird.

Well it's definitely not the same as pummeling a real Marshall into an actual 4x12 while standing in front of it, but what can you expect at a fraction of the price.

Well it's definitely not the same as pummeling a real Marshall into an actual 4x12 while standing in front of it, but what can you expect at a fraction of the price.

I liked a lot of ODs and delays into my stomp, I used a lot of pedals with mine. Big muffs seemed to work better for me than a FF, it's the one pedal I couldn't get a tone I was happy with into my stomp. I tried a bunch of different ones too but it just wasn't for me.

I can understand that. I do like a real FF into the stomp over the HX FF though. Theirs just doesn't have the same girth and bigness, although I've been able to get some decent tones from it too.

With you on that. I did not like the Modelled FF at all and I like a lot of the L6 drive pedals.

Some of the muffs are pretty decent.

I’ll have to dig deeper into the newer iterations of the Fractal fuzzes, but historically fuzz has probably been the one type of drive pedals I’ve struggled the most to get sounding right digitally.
