I love you man, but you're insane.it shouldn't really be a case where I prefer a £100 reverb pedal from 2004....

My VP4 on my board with effects before and after it isNo sir. I am not a greedy man. Just 6.
It's basically your fault, if you think about it. I was going into this thinking I'd supplement with perhaps a delay and/or reverb in the insert. But the delays and reverbs are just so good, that are built-in. So now, I'm trying to figure out how to work things.
If I had even one block more, it'd probably do the trick, because then I could do OD, Amp/Cab, Modulation, Delay, Reverb. OR......I do just an external OD. I don't know. I'll figure it out.
This thing is amazing though.
I imagine the AM4 is going to be the same situation
So, I've thought about adding the VP4 already, because you know, I can't leave well enough alone. If I run SDPIF out of the AM4, do I run it back into the input as a loop-type deal? Or is it just SPDIF out, into the VP4, into whatever the amplification is?My VP4 on my board with effects before and after it isI imagine the AM4 is going to be the same situation

I've thought a time (or 77) about how I would do this. I can't remember where I "landed" but I will say I would probably want to keep the target the AM4 split output modes and use them accordingly. I feel like SDPIF is not quite what I wanted when I started looking at it. I'd want them stacked one above the other ideally. So, I've thought about adding the VP4 already, because you know, I can't leave well enough alone. I've seen the RV a few times in the GC used section at rando locations I've been at and have been tempted to give it a go based on your recommendation. I don't do verb up front so that's where I'm always easily talked back down off the ledge.I'm really not!
I told you WookieAlright, I'll be that guy. I love this thing. I really, really do.
I wish it had 5 blocks.6 tops. Just 6.

Nah I use a physical wah regardless. No worries there. (not that there's anything wrong with the wahs in Fractal stuff).I told you Wookie
It is freaking great , it’s honestly one of my fav guitar products I have picked up probably in last decade
Anyway , one thing you could do if your delay needs are not to much
Try the EchoVerb combo
So you can have a delay and reverb in one block you can even choose the blend between both
So Drive / Amp-cab/ Mod / delay-verb
But then would you need a wah ?
I think they might just be made with different goals. I find for example Source Audio to be clearer and more present than my Strymons, but that makes them harder to blend into your base sound without taking most of the sparkle out first. Fractal is somewhere in their own territory.I feel similar yknow. The Fractal stuff is very cool, but there's always a bit of a "flat" sound to the effects... lacking a bit of character. Obviously we could get really annoying about all of the subtleties and what not, but .... it shouldn't really be a case where I prefer a £100 reverb pedal from 2004....
Do I hear 7?
There are times when I want a cheap pedal in my chain as well, just because I like it. I don't expect every effect in my AM4 to be my favorite of its kind. But then, I also don't believe in "best" or "superior," only in personal preference.I feel similar yknow. I love it with 4, and I don't mind throwing my VP4 in front of it some of the time to get to 8.Alright, I'll be that guy. I love this thing. I really, really do.

My choice has been VP4 S/PDIF out to AM4 S/PDIF in. That lets me use the VP4's stereo input. When combining them, I use an AM4 preset with the amp/cab block first. So I get up to 4 effects before the amp, and up to 3 after. If you want more post-amp effects, swap the order. So, I've thought about adding the VP4 already, because you know, I can't leave well enough alone. Yeah, the SA voicing has great clarity. Which I love, but that doesn't mean everyone else will love it.I think they might just be made with different goals. Vs say a Fm9, do you enjoy the physical flexibility and UI?Same here: VP4 > spdif > AM4
AM4 has drives, amp (4 channels) plus delay/reverb
Exp.pedal on VP4 for wah, whammy, rate.
+ MIDI to switch presets on both devices
These days I travel a lot. FM9 is a no go.
When at home, I use my Axe-Fx 3 plus RJM MIDI controller.
Headless with the AM4 in the front of the bag would be awesome. The AM4 has me thinking about packing a travel guitar on my SF work trips this year. Very exciting!
