Fractal Audio Systems AM4 - Amp Modeler

So I know I asked this before but regarding footswitches
Like in the 2112 vid he had it set to custom
Switch 1 presets
Switch 2 scenes
Switch 3 fx
Switch 4 tuner

So am I right in assuming these would be global assignments and would be the same function regardless of mode

For instance if I am in scenes
And I hold switch 3 in the above example that would load the FX mode , correct
While in FX if I was to hold switch 2 that would return me to scenes mode

We're going off topic so I wont harp on about it, but yeah the CF7 is almost the genesis of what got me looking at it all... limp bizzzzkit effects. They modelled it in the Wes Borland STL Amphub plugin. I'd already been considering it well before that came out but its still neat to see it in digital form. The line is so fugly and terminator2 and 90s, love it.

Phaser is awesome, chorus can be up front lush or crazy AF and delay is awesome as well. Smash Box was pure nostalgia :rofl

According to the wiki, Amp Boost adds 4dB of level to the Amp's output and that's it. Separate from the Input Boost, which has the types etc
That's Solo Boost, which is Output level.

Amp boost allows selecting from various boost types (just the EQ curve from various drive types) and Level from 0-12dB.

Are there any vids showing onboard preset creation and editing without the computer editor? I'm really interested, but I don't want to rely on a laptop.

Cordy does tons of demos for G66, which is not Fractal. If he's being compensated, it's by G66 (which he is quite open about).
G66 paid for all the youtube demonstrations by various influencers and not Fractal? I wonder if they changed their policy. I can't blame them if they did.

Can the AM4 be set up for per-preset switching, so you can have one button cycle amp channels, one for delay, one reverb, etc?

They used to be fun, reading about specs and features, but now it’s generally a small group of excited people while a bunch of others do the best job they can at being offended over (almost always) a single feature not being included, or the Camp Survivors (from all brands) come out and do their best to poke holes in it, generally while displaying the IQ of a 5 year old in the process.

Which wouldn’t be entirely off putting, but in most cases the rest of the thread is spent explaining/appeasing those people.

“Aw, that’s cute.”

This looks awesome. If it was ~$700, I’d probably get one just to have the Fractal stuff. But it’s $1100 and I also want the Stadium. Both would’ve been nice tho 😌

Man, after the VP4, Stadium and now the launch of this, I think it’s safe to say forums/internet have ruined new product launches for me. All I know is what I've read: everything sucks because it takes a long time to boot up.

Looks really cool! I have to say for all the complaining, that insert is a great idea. Any small modeller should have one, I’m always baffled by devices that have a DI out and no way to add post effects (Kemper Player I’m looking at you).

I really think it is.
Another thing I'll add, is I don't get the impression Cliff feels he needs to "compete" in order to stay relevant. Like for example, I would not be surprised at all if he has not changed any of his business plans for the future because of the Stadium and all it entails.
Fractal pretty much has to. Let's say Line6 adds effects that compete favorable with Fractal. Stadium is easier to get, likely to be cheaper (at least in Europe/Australia/Asia), and atm easier to use. If everyone keeps buying Stadium then there's not much left for Fractal. But Stadium is still clearly a work-in-progress in many ways, and we will see how it shapes up over the next year.

Fractal has the least they need to do with the amp/cab modeling and effects, and the most they have to do with user interface. AM4 shows some hints like combining some model features together, and AM4/VP4 expert edit is likely to carry over to next gen too.

I would not be surprised if the next gen FMx products are similar in design to the AM4/VP4, just with a touchscreen, more footswitches, upgraded scribble strips and whatnot.

I also agree it might be a good time away. Q3/4 2026 earliest, maybe 2027. AM4 is likely to be a very popular product for them to carry them over that time period.
