Fractal Audio Systems AM4 - Amp Modeler

"It's even more realer now".
I was using the USA MKV and MKII amps yesterday on the newest firmware, and I swear down they sound a lot better now. Maybe is my brain imagining it, but the mid frequency and high frequency content seems to be more amp-like than it previously was. Would love to know if talking shite though!

Well James Freeman who is pretty damn picky said he heard and felt a noticeable difference in the tone and feel

someone is claiming the latency of a Plexi is -70, that you actually hear the sound before you hit the strings
Unbelievable
Back in the day I tried the Axe-Fx II with the Atomic CLR right at my feet I had a similar experience.
It felt as if the Axe-Fx knew what I was going to play -- so immediate.

While the AM4 would make an incredible “first Fractal product” for anyone, describing it that way undersells what it truly is. It’s far more than just an “entry-level” Fractal product. Depending on their preferences, it could also be perfectly suited to current and former Fractal users. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I personally think the AM4 might be close to a perfect product for me.

For the record, the AM4 is not my first Fractal product—I was an Ultra user in the late 2000s and upgraded to the II as soon as it became available in Europe. For various reasons, I didn’t buy the Axe-FX III, FM9, or FM3, but I’m now a very satisfied VP4 and AM4 owner.

Same here. And as a bonus this has quickly become my fave for bass

Stupid question from a stupid person:

If I bought a VP4, set it for parallel effects, took the SPDIF output from this and dropped it into the AM4, would the stereo nature of the effects be preserved going through the Amp block and out to the AM4 outputs?

I'm looking at the Audio and USB Signal Flow of the AM4 manual and I think they are but I am tired and not very intelligent right now.

Input AM4 is mono. And input Amp is mono.

The Fractal IIC+ is FUN. I lost an hour playing through it last night with a Les Paul straight into the cans. The dry, tight articulation in the attack feels like my Studio Preamp and Mark III. Definitely in the ballpark. Very interested in putting it through my 1960 for kicks.

If I could ask for anything, it would be the clean channel, and the rest of the pull functions. The bass shift in particular unlocks a bunch of Fender black panel and even Dumble tones.

I was banging out Hetfield riffs on the IIC+ last night and swore that the mids/top felt better than they were on the release firmware of the AM4. There’s more of the “boogie honk” and less of the “modeler honk” I guess.

Hmmm. Not really.
Ports Bass is cool I assume it’s an Ampeg Portaflex
The SVTs in it obviously
The Mesa 400
The Orange 200
I honestly had no idea there were any bass amps in there, thanks for the pointers.

Instrument input is mono, I get that. I'm puzzled by the signal flow diagram from the AM4 manual.

To me, that shows that the SPDIF input is stereo and this stereo signal is preserved through the four FX blocks to the balanced outputs. Blue goes to the left output, red to the right output.

This is why I was thinking VP4 parallel effects --> SPDIF out --> connected to AM4 SPDIF in --> AM4 blocks --> AM4 outputs.

Anyhow, bottom line: Amp block is mono. Thanks :)
