Fractal Audio Systems AM4 - Amp Modeler

There were a few fun amps back in the Std/Ultra like the Brit 900, Cornford Kotzen and FAS Hellbeast.
For sure. I remember the Brit 900 model back then pretty much nailed the early Manic Street Preachers sound. Despite being a fan of the band, I never really liked the 900 for my own uses. Still, it would be cool to see it in Fractal and other modelers just as a piece of Marshall history.

It's just words about a (luxury) product we might or might not buy for our own amusement or to do our job.
There's no need to analyze other's people opinions that deep.
Of course. I’m just suggesting that if one thinks about it as a design choice to not include an effects loop, it might put one in a better headspace than thinking about it as “argh, why did they choose to make the effects loops so limited!”

An effects loop would have required an extra set of converters adding to the price. It wasn’t in the cards to get to that price point. They WERE able to include this insert. And chose to call it an insert instead of a loop probably in hopes to make the distinction clear.

It’s fine if the product doesn’t meet his needs, and given EU pricing on Fractal I get that this thing is not nearly the value there as it is in my world - I’m not trying to convince him to buy it. But the “why is everyone else such an idiot” arguments do get tiresome.

I'm a Fractal dummy, so, please indulge. So, in any given preset, you only have 1 amp model loaded up in that channel/block, is that correct?

Man, after the VP4, Stadium and now the launch of this, I think it’s safe to say forums/internet have ruined new product launches for me. They used to be fun, reading about specs and features, but now it’s generally a small group of excited people while a bunch of others do the best job they can at being offended over (almost always) a single feature not being included, or the Camp Survivors (from all brands) come out and do their best to poke holes in it, generally while displaying the IQ of a 5 year old in the process.

Which wouldn’t be entirely off putting, but in most cases the rest of the thread is spent explaining/appeasing those people.

You don't need to enter semantics mode. I'm clever enough to understand the purpose of this "loop". Which it actually is, as in being an insert point for further devices. Pretty much what describes a loop.
Without going back through this thread so it’s no A/D conversion I.e. extra added latency on that?
If so that box is becoming very attractive even at 1 1/2 x US price.

you just seem to be pretending that there is not cost in making it act like the effects loop of the FM/rack units.

I know it's no extra AD conversion, hence no additional latency. Which is fine.
All I'm saying is: Every other modeler in this price bracket has a freely routable loop (yes, with additional ADDA conversion and latency) and at least for myself (and likely for some others as well), the lack of such a loop is greatly diminishing the value of this thing as you simply can't do quite some things the competition allows for.

Yeah. It's basically there so you can connect pedals at the end of the VP4, and still benefit from its balanced outputs - which is a pretty nice feature, IMHO.

There's always some guy who think's any given product is gonna be a failure because they were not personally consulted about what features to include. Absolutely petulant morons.
