Fender releases a DAW, all platforms, free.

Why don't you just use Garage Band? I mean, it's several times more capable than this here and fully compatible to the desktop version of Logic.
not sure anymore tbh…
My usecase:
Import a stereo tracks, hook a kpp up, record the DI signal, and reamp it with a plugin, export the DI recordings to my main daw. (Studio one)
..basically ..a couch recording setup ;)

I tried with GarageBand, but not sure where I got stuck…but I tried logic and that did what I wanted.
Maybe it was an issue with selecting the right input source for recording.

As is the case with the TMP, we are not the target audience for this product. But credit where due, Fender is leading the way in providing an easy and mostly painless path into the world of digital for people who otherwise would never have taken the first step. And they even have their own YouTube personality to show people what power switches and volume knobs do.

Anything that lowers the barrier to entry for players to get into recording is a huge win IMO. Kudos to Fender for stepping up their game in the categories other than guitars and amps.
If I’m correct they also have a “guitar lesson thingy” aimed to keep new players into the game. Offcourse driven by commercial interest to sell a “follow-up guitar”….which is fine…nevertheless, if succesfull it keeps more people into music.

Interesting development, and I mostly wonder “Why”.
The more things you slap your name on, the wider the spread - this applies to both good things and bad things alike (💩). I mean, if it gets people into recording, great!

Personally I don't feel the need for it as we have plenty of great DAW's so I'll remain indifferent.

Which is why they released a Fender-branded DAW for multiple platforms that exclusively offers Fender amp/cab/effects models right down to the visual design of each?!?
But you just said it was a holdover from the Mustang days. :D

Offering Fender-only in this case could be part of a sales strategy. Having only four amps to start leaves plenty of room for monetizing plugins.

Or can I revive my previous positivity that maybe the Super-Sonic will come to TMP soon?

I never said they're running from their brand. Only that so far, they've ignored a huge amount of their amp history with the TMP. Which I still have. Along with a about two dozen Fender guitars. I'm not a Fender hater.

I see what you did there. :sneaky:
Sorry ;)

But as much as I dig the SS (has been my fav combo for a while), I assume the clean channel is covered in the TMP, the burn channel, depending on the setting you like, either a plexi with an EQ block in front bumping low mids,, or a D style amp would get you really close.

Does this mean that if I create files in Garage Band I can import them into Logic? I didn't know that.

Yes, this new Fender offering is limited but I hope they develop it into something more powerful. As it stands I'm sure some will find it useful.

When it first came out many people dumped on the TMP but there have been many adopters who really like it. I'm sure the same will be true of this.

But for us older forum heads I think the established DAWs will be preferred for a good while to come.

I still think there's probably more GTX DNA in the TBP than most would want to comfortably admit :bag

None that I can see or use. None of the amp models I regularly use (5153, BE100, Soldano, Silver Jubilee) were there, and a lot of the effects weren't either.

NOTE: Just realized the Jubilee and FBE were there, but I can say they sound and feel more realistic than the multiple times I gave a GTX a go in GC.

They have a lot of skepticism of this sort to overcome, tho. And it's understandable. I personally thought Line 6 just recycled the HD500 models when Helix first launched because they all had the same names, but they clearly remodeled those real-life amps they owned with a better engine, and then added way more content over the next 10+ years.

Fender is going to have to earn that same "redemption". Thus far, I think they're well on their way.

The GTX has all those models other than the SLO.

I belatedly added a note. I don't think it has the 5153 Stealth, and certainly not all three channels. The FBE didn't have the switches.

Like Line 6 did with Helix, the lineup overlap was likely due to them starting with what they owned and leveling up from there. I just know a lot of those amps sound great even when A/Bed side-by-side with my FM9.

FM9 is still my #1 for now, but TMP isn't a slouch by any means. I'd happily sell it if it were.

It's the EVH 5150 listed in the manual. Not sure if it's the Stealth but I think from the graphic they use it should be? Yeah those amp sounds aren't going to translate through a particle board semi-open 112 loaded with a Celestion 70/80 :ROFLMAO:

It could be, but they definitely didn't model it with the detail in the GTX that they did for the TMP. And if it were a quick lift-and-dump, they'd have the SuperSonic, OR120, Bandmaster and HiWatt DR103 on the TMP already, which they don't. They've only added net new models over the past 18 months (as well as remodeling a few they didn't get right at launch), and I give them credit for that.

Besides, that would be pretty crushing to Cliff if his very latest updates to the Fractal modeling engine couldn't put more space between his modeling and warmed-over GTX models when fed through the same IR.

They can cause they purchased Personus in 2023 (Studio one), includes amp models and efx

Interesting development, and I mostly wonder “Why”.
Marketing instrument for their current core products?, gateway to Studio one?, or is there a bigger plan at play?

Are they anticipating on the brains of mobile devices becoming a part of “day to day rigs”?
Next TM FR is also an interface, and together with a phone becomes a competitor for Katana/Catalysts?
Software versions of their Tmp platform?

Thinking on this a bit more.

Rock music isn't "dead" in 2025 but it's way different than it was 20+ years ago. It's a lot less guitar hero and a lot more indie rock. Lots of jangly guitars that are more textured than riffing. Way more women in bands than there used to be. And Fender guitars are overwhelmingly the instruments of choice.

I read an article about a bunch of teenagers starting bands in Chicago a few years ago, and there was a chunk of the article where younger teens were highly impressed by older teens that had real Fender instruments which made them professional in their eyes. They saw Fenders as the gold standard, so that brand building really does make an impact.

Teenagers don't use computers. They didn't grow up with them and don't have much use for them outside school. They do live on their phones and tablets though. Offering a free DAW that integrates to some lower price hardware from a highly trusted brand would be huge for kids. I could see that ultimately leading to a subscription platform that offers things like loops and libraries and what not.

If you're 15 years old, you're not going to save up $1-2k to get a computer, audio interface, hardware modeler, and DAW. You probably already have a phone and headphones, so a free DAW plus a < $100 guitar input to your phone is way more achievable. And you don't care how accurate the modeling is because you've never even seen a tube amp in real life.

TL/DR - Fender's free DAW isn't aimed at anyone who posts on a gear forum or has a computer set up for recording already. It's for kids who are just getting into music and maybe just got their first guitar.
