Goddamn, whoever put this color combo together is pretty awesome. Normally, I don’t like gold hardware, but this combo fits really, really well.

99.9% of the time I hate gold hardware, but yeah, that thing is hot as shit. And yes, if I see a TOM Special on sale for $700 I will post it. If there are any left after I buy one :D

Combining the TOM bridge with a micro tuning stop piece is interesting. I figure if you don't like it, another plain gold stop piece would be a cheap and easy replacement.
The rest of it looks great. I am not a red or gold guitar person either.

They should have put a locking nut on there. Fucker would never go out of tune then.

Really surprised they don't do that. You would think it would be easier to use the same necks on the HT's as they do on the other Specials. The TOM standards don't have the micro tuners so I can see using a traditional nut on those.

I’m almost positive the old Peavey Wolfgang TOM had a locking nut. I’ll have to find a pic.

EDIT

Nope! They didn’t have a locking nut either.

Adorama seems to have periodic markdowns on Fender affiliated guitars (EVH, Charvel, Jackson) with colors that aren’t moving in the US.

I follow Slick Deals and usually see the EVH Wolfgang Specials go down to this approximate price periodically.

Adorama is tricky with guitars; I've heard several mixed reviews.

I will let you know how it goes. I am not expecting Sweetwater service. What I am expecting is a brand new guitar that has been in its unopened box for some time. Unless you get it from someone who will open, inspect and set it up, who you buy from won’t matter much. They have a 30 day return window, so I feel I am covered on any factory QC issues and any issues from extended storage. Other than that, I figure I am on my own to get it setup.

I read a few things over the weekend that lead me to believe Fender/EVH over produced this color back in 2023 and these are basically “NOS” that Adorama is handling the clearance for. I will see if I can date the guitar when I get it.

I’ve gotten quite a few guitars this way. I remember getting a Gretsch G5420T and Squier VM Baritone Jazzmaster from Adorama several years back.

From what I remember, they don’t double box the guitar. But the manufacturer typically ships it to them that way.

AFAIK, they haven't changed anything since 2023 and that's a current production color. It sounds to me like you got a great deal.

and that's a current production color.

It's still listed on the website, but if they have had inventory sitting would they keep making more? Has anyone seen a Sonic Bloom with a 2025 build date for example?

Fingers crossed I get a good one in good condition, but either way I will post what I find about the build date.
