EVH 2025 new Wolfgangs..... El43 Iconic and FRFRs.....

This is interesting. When I was in high school, playing a Peavey Wolfgang hardtail at a local shop really changed my idea of how a guitar could feel, and I should have saved up and bought it but I was young and dumb and didn't want to be seen playing anything that said "Peavey" on it. I was planning on grabbing a used one a few years back, but Covid happened and then Ed passed away and the used prices have been crazy ever since. I do like the compound radius and jumbo frets on these though, plus the Wolfgang Special seems like it has a little thicker of a neck like the Peaveys did...

The necks are quite different for rock guitars 1 5/8” nut width and not thin.

Yes! The asymmetrical profile is really cool, and it really put me on the minimal finish/unfinished neck thing. At the time I had a decent but lower-end Ibanez and was obsessed with Jacksons and Flying Vs, by contrast everything about the Wolfgang just felt like it was designed to be effortless to sit and play.

So I'm poking around looking at used EVH Wolfgang Specials now...does anyone know what year they started using the thicker neck profile like they seem to have now? I remember playing some early ones from Japan and it was pretty thin for me. Had no idea the production of these guitars moved so much. Thanks!

They are supposed to be the same so you should just judge the instrument in front of you.
