I'd mentioned the RedSeven preamp had a super hot signal - I was having to use its internal -12dB pad output.
So I picked up a passive DI box to convert line level down to instrument level so I wouldn't fry my FX that came after the PRE.
Worked as advertised - unfortunately looks like the preamp ain't hanging around so was going to sell the Radial.
Should note that with both of my dual EL34 amps I was having to use the head's masters around 2.5-3 and then the line out level
out from the reactive load would also be pretty low - both the Red7 and Mezza are SCREAMERS! Same goes for the KSR and
AMT P2 preamp pedals.
Hmmmmmm........ the Radial has its own internal -15dB pad.....
Been trying it all day and what a revelation! I can now have both the heads and pre-amps with the masters closer to 4.5-5 and same
with the load box. The Soldano at 20 watts didn't have the same problem but I tried it through the DI anyway and the thing sounds
even better with the 6V6s working harder and the load box at 3/4s.
Best Benjamin I've spent in a very long time!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you have similar master volume issues with a load box.
