Do you see tone?

one thing thats cool about some of the synths i have is that you can see whats being played on their screen in real time. a visual representation of whats happening as you are playing and changing stuff does help understand things.

this might already be a thing im not aware of but it would be cool if they could make that happen for guitar in modelers.

I see tones, keys and songs in terms of colors. If you tell me write me a red song with blue and yellow tones, I know exactly what that means to me. I can't really explain it in words, but that's a very defined musical picture in my mind.

I don't see scenery though, not for tones. For songs, yes.

Not in the visual sense, no, but I recall songs pretty detailed with relative pitch, tones, and depending on how familiar I am with the song all the parts and layers. I can't always nail the pitch perfectly in my memory but everything relative is there typically.

My brain must work in reverse. Put film in front of me and I know what might work as a score. It's how I've made a living for 35 years. I have no idea how it happens.

I can't decide whether to blame it on Ancient Greek muses or space aliens, though I prefer the idea of muses out of pure tradition. ;)

However, I'm big on sounds and instrument textures as inspirations for creativity, especially when there isn't picture.
