I must be sensitive to buffers because it was just a deal breaker to me on the MXR stuff. Boss buffers are a little better, but it’s like they try to overcompensate by cranking up the treble and instead it gets kind of hard and brittle sounding/feeling. I definitely prefer true bypass, but I understand the need for a buffer in bigger boards. Strangely enough I have a buffered bypass EHX pedal and that one doesn’t bother me.
