I went and bought a keyboard pedal since the helix synths are a bit goofy. I bet they could make an awesome polyphonic one Tones are great. Tracking and lack of poly is unfortunate.

Talkbox is in my (and many musicians) pantheon of guitar effects.

Oh yes, a vocoder would be good fun, but it might be of limited utility for many beyond Helix Floor and Rack users, as our other multieffects don't have proper mic inputs. Yes, one could connect a mic transformer adapter or small preamp, but that's not ideal and I'd be curious as to how many people would bother trying a vocoder on those other SKUs.

Our Victoria team is friends with the old team from TC Helicon. (What happens when you're the world's foremost experts on hardware vocal processing and your new boss insists you develop ultra-budget USB interfaces instead? R.I.P.) We ended up with one of their guys but he's not working on any vocal-centric stuff at the moment.
 
Will Yamaha design a new, telecaster shaped guitar?

I got to play a friend's pacifica 112 model strat style guitar some time back and it was amazing. It was Made in Indonesia or China, I don't remember that part of the info.

I will say that if Yamaha ever decides to build a tele shaped guitar in the pacifica range, some of us would really buy and enjoy playing it. Your guitars not only look beautiful, but the workmanship is very good.

Thanks, @StarF666. Remarkably, I think there's only two of us from YGG (our head Legal Counsel and myself) with any potential risk of danger. EDIT: Just learned we do have a few people who don't yet know if they lost their homes.:cry: We're less than 2 miles from the Palisades evacuation zone and as of this writing, about 5-6 miles from any flames, but yesterday, some flames were spreading at 50 yards per minute. The winds finally died down, but if they shift northward, we're ready to bail. Packed up the most expensive instruments and studio gear (almost forgot my iLok USB key!) and can get Niki, Bill&Ted, and Paddles out in five minutes.

A bunch of us put a neighborhood task force together to ensure the older and disabled neighbors are able to get out as well. Everyone’s in surprisingly good spirits, but we all seem to know people who’ve lost homes. The friend who convinced me to move to LA 21 years ago lost both her house and sound design studio. Just devastating.

So kind of you to think of others who may need help. I lived in San Bernardino for about three years, during the early 90s. I lived through the Rodney King riots and two nearby 6.2+ earthquake quakes that occurred within a month of each other. I ended up moving to Portland, Oregon to go to grad school. At that point I wasn’t sorry to leave SoCal.

Anyway, my prayers are with you and all of those in harms way. Best, Scott
 
Good to know you're safe for now, prepared and in no urgent danger. I hope winds calm down and firemen get that thing under control soon. Stay safe and good luck SoCal.

Big hug Eric! My family is in Tujunga and we are praying that the fire doesn't spread any further. It's terrible. I hope it stops soon. Hugs.

Niki, the dogs, and I are safe for now. The north edge of the Palisades fire is still creeping slowly toward our neighborhood, but the LAFD, VCFD, and City of Los Angeles have been AMAZING given the perfect storm of:
  • Driest winter in 60+ years
  • Super low humidity
  • An unprecedented windstorm with gusts of 90+ mph, which kept drop planes and helicopters grounded the entire first day, which let the fires grow so rapidly. This windstorm alone would've garnered national news, even if it didn't exacerbate fires EDIT: Note that the city saw this coming and ramped up firefighting resources days in advance. As bad as this is, it could've been much worse
  • Urban mountain ranges and canyons that are notoriously difficult to navigate
  • Narrow winding roads that are hard for fire trucks to get through
  • No fire hydrants on mountain fire roads, obviously
  • City-wide false alarm evac notices blasting from phones at 4am, freaking everyone out
  • Some douchebag flying their drone, damaging the Canadian Super Scooper salt water drop plane. Won't be fixed until Monday
  • Massive f@%&stick who was (allegedly) caught starting the Kenneth fire. Captured by residents just down the street from us
YGG is in the path of Kenneth, but the flames/embers will have to jump the 101 freeway and they're 35% contained. The bad news is that more Santa Ana winds are expected this weekend.




Oh, and the talking heads pointing fingers, spreading lies, and trying to politicize this disaster are morally repugnant pieces of $#!‡ and they can slurp turds in hell. :mad:

Lies that promote and support politicization and compromise high moral character are destroying the fabric of our society. Unfortunately it happens on all sides, which just compounds the problems we are facing as a country. The actions you have taken to help your neighbors is such a wonderful antidote to partisanship. I pray that our country can wake up to the importance of kindness and compassion regardless of ideology. Thank you for showing this even as you and your family face such immediate danger.
 
I feel like you’ve mentioned this in the past, but what are your go-to headphones for mixing and Helix use? I’ve been using the Sennheiser HD 600 for a couple years but feel like they’re almost too high-def at times.
