Did y’all scare away that Shredder777 guy?

Some people spend way too much time posting on these gear forums, and no time actually playing guitar.

That leads to all sort of neurosis.

'Tis a shame.

(here I am posting and not playing, lol)

I agree. You have not seen me posting much the last couple days. Way less..
1. It kills dopamine
2. It’s bad for my neck. Being on your phone and guitar is such a bad posture for your neck
3. The short amount of time I do have I want to play guitar

But on the other hand, this forum is really fun. I try to only be here when I am behind my laptop.

This is why I try not to get worked up over any of the forum stuff - and rather use humor to deescalate tension. My guess is too much emotional investment into discussions can lead to embarrassment for a few posters, so the only way out is to remove themselves from that feeling completely.

Also a lot of people are very lonely and the internet keeps them connected. They also can act out and that’s better than doing something crazy in real life.

Lickit's meltdown was a trip! NOTHING on a fucking forum is worth getting that worked up over. :facepalm

Yeah it all started in that “tube amp for home” thread. It was my first thread and so I thought: hah yeah, this is exactly like TGP.

I almost left (easy joke for you guys)

Glad i stayed and saw you guys are all alright and just assholes like my real life friends are assholes.

Seems Shredder used to go by a different username at TGP and his lamenting under that name led to a preset in the Helix. :rofl

damn, I feel like I generally have a pretty good (and useless) memory for random forum posts, but that's a deep cut, not to mention sussing out that shredder is digi. that's hilarious.

There were some oddities surrounding likeit and Achilles, for sure.

I don’t want to spend much time on this, but I had multiple people messaging me, “is likeit really Donnie/Achilles with another alt?” when I was questioning it already. likeit eventually me another member here in person, far away from California, but I think that just raised more questions than it did put anything to bed.

When Donnie passed, he had quite the reaction to it, despite never seemingly interacting with Donnie in any posts previously. There were absolutely, 100% some VERY similar behaviors between the two, namely in the “I’ll dish some shit out but the second I get it back I’m going to turn into a nuclear-spewing victim”

The last time I checked out RT, they’ve got a Donnie RIP thread there and had noticed that someone who also overuses ellipses had joined RT to share some of his own words about how much Donnie meant to him. :rofl

@Jarick Totally. The negativity was starting to make me anxious TBH. We were trying to help him as well!

He just didn't seem to want to listen to opinions based on experience that were different to his own; so why bother asking then... or starting a discussion in the first place? :wat

Way more chill here now 😌

What? So ilikeit was achellis, the guy who passed away?

That is so sad!

I prob spend way too much time here and it's a lot of ADHD procrastination more than anything. But it's a decent outlet to deal with stress and burnout.

I just like to think and talk about gear and shoot the shit about theoretical stuff. And I like to play guitar a lot, although I could use a lot more focus there. And of course I tinker with sounds a lot.

Hard part for me is I'm not a creative song writer type, always more of a producer who can take a song and then clean it up and build it out. But that initial spark is a block for me.

I believe they knew each other from another forum - not this one, and not RT - and were pretty good friends. But I don't know the whole story. I don't think they're the same person at all. ilikit is still alive elsewhere.

I think your post is a bit douchey tbh. Nothing to lose sleep over. Just a bit wank.

pffft... playing guitar... bla blah... that's an overrated type of activity.
However... the thought of playing guitar! That's the shit right there!

I know what it’s like to run and moderate a forum. You become protective of your work and sometimes it’s threatened and you turn into a mama bear because you have to. Being douchey is well within the purview of anyone in that position as long as it’s not an ego thing.

It seems that likitlikeyoulikeit deleted his account as his posts show as “Guest” postings.
I cannot find anywhere where a user can delete their own account. Seems to me he was shadow banned, or just outright banned. Mods/Admin of course have the prerogative there, but the amount of shit that goes down here (most of it funny!) all the time... I find it hard to believe a butthole avatar was so beyond the pale that it warranted a ban.

It does seem to me like there's some omission here in the story being told. It doesn't make a lot of sense. Again... mods/admin prerogative. I'm not owed anything.

There must have been more going on and I was just his way to blow off steam which is fine. I really hope he is well because he seemed lonely and out of balance.

TBH, these comments don't paint you in a good light. You're new here, and you almost immediately started to antagonise people. I'm more or less fine with that; I can dish it, so I've gotta be able to take it. etc etc.

But implying that a ex-member is lonely and out of balance... I dunno man... that just makes you look like a proper arsehole to me.

likitlikeyoulikeit was mostly a cool dude, and I'd like him to come back.
