So Strandberg has been living rent free in my head for a while. Always wanted one but I have all my various well documented bitching

But finally decided that the only way out was through

There was some added drama…. First UPS lost the package in transit, the. GC lost the package in store for several hours after I was supposed to pick up (bought a used unit to be shipped to store)

But damn talk about a happy ending. My apologies to @SillyOctpuss for hijacking his thread and looking forward to that MIJ LP hole filling soon ;)

So I bought a used NX6 Prog from GC. I’ve heard a lot of QC horror stories on the internet so definitely had some reservations especially buying used.

But god damn. Everything immaculate. There’s a few finish chips (it’s used so not a problem) but fret work, fret edges, blah blah blah. Flawless.

Been playing it through my Mark IV the last couple hours just grinning from ear to ear. The Suhr humbuckers sound incredible and the tonal options from the 5 blade switch tick all my typical boxes and more.

There was a lot of unknowns for me here… will I like the wndureneck? How will I feel about the fanned frets? Etc. well I find the neck awesome, and despite what I’ve read online, no issues with thumb over in first position (I do have Neanderthal hands though)

My only negatives: maybe just an adjustment thing, but I do have some concerns about the tuning pegs on a floating bridge. Seems very easy to send things out of whack while trying to tune and cause issues. Also, Low E string feels almost maxed out on the peg. Not a real problem yet but mildly concerning, but may just be a setup adjustment thing with this design. As far as overall setup goes, I’m shocked at how it’s playing out of the box as a used guitar shipped halfway across the country

There are a handful of finish chips around the body edges, but this is a used unit for nearly a G less than what they retail for new so that’s fine and no points against strandberg for that

The way people string these up is often not good enough. You really need to take time to set the tuners at the beginning of their travel and hold some tension in the string when you lock down the headpiece. All headless hardware requires careful stringing up to take the restricted range properly in to consideration.
You guitar looks good and is representative of the vast majority of Strandberg. The QC issues are overblown because the Gearpage doesn’t like expensive Indonesia products.

:guinessLove the colour dude. That looks excellent. I'm so pleased they found it. You'll have to give us a long term update vs your prs guitars over time.

Out of curiosity where was it? With ups or in the store?

I too am modern guitar interested. Super glad it's working out for you, and light relic mojo no charge!

Supposedly it never made it off the truck? Still doesn't make much sense as it was not only marked delivered but also was scanned into GCs system. Oh well, wherever it was just glad they found it

We here at TGF recognize it is the expensive Czech -> German guitars that are problematic. :beer :beer
