This is a pretty interesting video that sheds a lot of light on the cort facilities. I definitely had some misconceptions about what was going on there. I always kind of thought it was the prs SE building and then the "everything else building". Turns out they have a ton of distinct factories depending on the price/quality tier of what they're building. Strandberg and PRS both have their own factories, as well as some other brands that he said he wasn't allowed to disclose. Interesting stuff

I think Ibanez has a factory of their own there. The earlier Premium line had something to that extent written on the back of their headstock.

I bet Fender also has a factory of their own there for the Squiers and the Standard line.

Wonder why those brands are so touchy about their name getting out tho? Wouldn’t it be good publicity to flex that they have a factory of their own there instead of being made in the bigger common factory?

Really cool to see this ad it’ll sure dispel a lot of rumors about how that place is run. Seems most just think when a company wants to sell something cheap they hand the design off to Cortek to do as they please with, which isn’t the case at all, especially with PRS.

I can’t remember the last guitar I played that came out of there that sucked, probably something from the Ibanez Premium line before they stepped up their game. The last time I played those I’d put them right on par with the SE line.

Before PRS SE guitars ever even existed, a dude I know bought a Cort "Masterpiece" (which ironically was a carved top PRS-esque shaped guitar) and I shit you not to this day that was one of the most perfect guitars I've ever played in my life.

Cort M600 most likely.

There was also a Cort M800 that was a semi-hollowbody:

Those were nice guitars from what I remember. I considered buying one back then but I think I ended up with my Flaxwood Rautia in Ferrari Red, which is sorta similar.

Interesting... I actually prefer how these look too.

PRS SE guitars seem extremely nice for price, and it's really cool to see this production process, but outside of maybe the Studio and NF3 sometimes, I always hate how they look. Which I know is cliche to say, but I really wish I did like the aesthetics more because they do so much else right.

Yeah PRS can be a bit hit and miss. I wouldn't kick e.g the PRS SE DGT gold top out of bed tho!

I will say: that one looks way better in person than in some of the photos I've seen in online stores!

I don't love how a lot of the PRS electrics have that wide lower bout though. It works a little better for me on the pointier Studio and NF3 though.

Guess it could be, but I remember his having real duncans and actually saying Masterpiece somewhere on either the front or back of the headstock.

I do remember thinking it was very expensive (especially for a Cort) but it's also been over 20 years ago now lol

It had literally perfect action/string geometry; easiest playing guitar I've played aside from the Fly Deluxe

I think they did make some more upscale models, but I would see if you can find something following the M series.

Watched the PRS video last week and it’s cool how much thought and care they put into the operation, versus treating the line as a throwaway. Not too surprising that a solid guitar can be built anywhere if you don’t completely skimp on materials, quality control, or general give-a-damn.
