You’re right - the phrase least developed countries would be more appropriate here. “3rd world country” brings Afghanistan to mind and I assumed “3rd world” meant a specific economic designation, but I learned that it’s a Cold War era to label the “other” countries not officially on NATO’s side.

It was actually grilled shrimp that did me in the worst, followed by a weirdly colored “hamburger”. The duck was so gross it made me gag, but it didn’t make sick.

I’ve never been in to China but my dad went several times when I was growing up (amongst many other varying “world level” countries and the cuisine stories were always a blast
