Makes a lot of sense, for sure. Pretty much non-existent cartage.

And damn, I really want an Iridium.

It does make sense, although it's not like he doesn't have people doing the literal heavy lifting (and probably amp maintenance) for him, by contract.

Being brutally honest, the european way, he comes across like a very picky millionaire in that article. 😂 First world problems.

This is a solo tour, so I don’t think he’s got the resources he would on an FF tour.

Yeah his main rig is Friedmans and Vox amps with lots of 4x12's and a big pedalboard. This is a little bar/club rig. I think the idea is to be more stripped down anyway.

Truth.

I've actually never heard an Iridium, or even listened to a demo for that matter, BUT, it would have been PERFECT for the 2 gigs I just did in Put In Bay.

I used my Grandmeister 40 Deluxe, running silently, for that purpose. Luckily, that doesn't take up much room.

I still contend the AmpliFire Box MKII is a much better Iridium than Iridium ever was, but... yeah. If the form factor and simplicity appeals to you, it's impossible to go wrong with that box.

Is he just playing Foo songs as a solo guy? What material does he himself have? I'm pretty Fooless clueless

He's got some solo material, kind of a country-rock mashup.

It's a very cool pedal for running direct. Plug and play with no menus and knobs to control all the main stuff. Really good for a pedal platform clean to medium gain thing.

As long as you don't need things like stereo in/output, higher quality IR loader, MIDI/expression control etc.

Some people just want a box with knobs they can put on their pedalboard and conect to front-of-house. In fact, i think most professional musicians care waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less about these things than most people in this forum

I don’t know what you’re talking about

I didn’t even know it until recently but he’s actually pretty active outside Foo, he’s got 3 albums with his side band and I believe he’s getting ready to release his 2nd album under just his name.

If I’m going on a solo tour, I’ll take the box I can easily find in any GC rather than the one where I’ll have to cross my fingers that TK MIGHT have a few minutes to spare for his Atomic Amps side hustle that day to take my call/email.

Yeah, short of taking a real all in one modeler like a Helix Floor or Fractal FM-9, that's probably the next best idea. Also Chris is a plug and play guy so having it be as close to an amp as possible with as little tweaking is the requirement. The Iridium does a great job at the few main tones right out of the box.
