BOSS WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core (Reactive Load)

Yeah I saw that this morning. I thought by core it would probably not have all the digital effects and stuff, but I guess this is just the TAE minus power amp. Curious what the street price will be too, it’s tough out here on these streets with the Suhr RL going for $350.

That's an interesting disclaimer. Are Rectos actually above their rated wattage, or is the lack of negative feedback an issue for this loadbox?

IIRC the OG TAE's impedence curve was as shitty as the woeful curves available in the Captor X and the UA OX box.

:pitchforks

Any chance BOSS improved it with the TAE Core? I'd expect it to be the same old scheiße TBH 🤔

this should be a separate sticky topic

„Creative options include a helpful Mix Assist tool that ensures tracks fit perfectly within every mix, plus a unique Air Feel feature that authentically recreates “amp-in-room” sound with advanced spatial technology.“

add some kind of “Latency optimisation technology” and even if this was sold by the most hated manufacturers, it would have certain gear addicts frothing at the mouth.

Wonder how many Recto’s they blew up in testing. Unfortunately they’re far from the only amps with no NFB

Didn't the original TAE get soured by having reports of it or amps failing due to the load reactiveness options? I wonder if that was due to no NFB amps too.

Vox AC30s would also have no negative feedback, but I guess those are low power enough that there's no risk.

I'd like to understand what exactly about no-NFB amps is a problem for this, considering it's not an issue for most loadboxes out there.

735 € including Finnish VAT at Thomann. Pricy, but not absurd for the feature set. A lot cheaper than the bigger TAE (1369 €), and undercuts similar loadboxes too, eg. Suhr RL IR is 899 €.

After reviving my Fryette PS-100, I obviously have no plans to buy one, but if the product works well that would be a pretty solid option for home/studio situations...just depends on how that little 30W poweramp can manage.

I was trying the PS-100 + NAM models through an audio interface the other night, and there was so much volume on tap that setting the PS-100 on the "low" volume taper and turning the volume knob halfway was enough to give me probably something in the 95-100 dB @ 1m volume range. I'm guessing I was using maybe a few watts at most.
