Boss TAE Core - Control tap tempo?

How can I control tap tempo and on/off for delay? Do I need a midi controller or is there another way?

Yes you'd need a MIDI controller capable of programmable CC messages (most are). Doesn't seem like there's any other option.

But since there doesn’t seem to be an actual tap tempo setting for the delays (?) does this work? Anybody know how to set this up?
