Boss TAE Core - Control tap tempo?

How can I control tap tempo and on/off for delay? Do I need a midi controller or is there another way?

Yes you'd need a MIDI controller capable of programmable CC messages (most are). Doesn't seem like there's any other option.

That might be an actual issue. It doesn't seem to offer that sort of thing so the MIDI controller would have to basically translate tap tempo to some specific time setting. I can't think of any that does.

There is no tap tempo button on the unit. Has to go through midi as Laxu suggested. The Boss GA/FC pedal may be of use as you can use the tap temp on that one hooked up via midi.

I have a GA-FC but the Boss manual says it would only work with the big TAE. It also says that there is a way to setup something like a morning star mc3 to do tap tempo but I don't understand how that would be setup.
