Boss PX-1 Plugout FX

I guess if they eventually dropped an RE-202 algo my interest would be piqued assuming it offered all the parameters and was truly the same algo…. Just for pedalboard space. Obviously would lose the preset switching… but truthfully I pretty much just use one sound lol. Also lost would be that obnoxious DMT blast off hold down sound… and I hate to admit I do use that a lot :rofl

Well, they have a newer RE-201 emulation plugin (came out last year) in Roland Cloud, so it’s possible it becomes a plugout too. Not sure if it’s the same as in the RE-202 pedal or if it’s updated.

The memes are all so good

I'm down for $10 pedal algos. If you give me the FULL pedal model and not some dumb "Boss took away 43% of the controls the original has" thing they tend to do? I'd appreciate a nicer display if we're taking requests as well.

Funny. On the Katana Gen3, that I had for some time, it was otherwise. A simple "TS-style Overdrive" had like 12 additional controls. I am clearly exaggerating here, but it drove me nuts. Chorus had 2 pages in the app. I just wanted a simple "what you see is what you get" thingy.

I think they pick and choose and put whatever sort of parameter overlay that makes the most sense for them on their FX. Whether it's 2 knobs, 2 controls or a bunch of deep parameters that don't exist IRL but not the actual parameters the original device has.

The point is: price does not equal value. Despite what one might think about the SP-1 and SG-1, you're not getting $3162 worth of pedals for $250, simply because a) that +$3k comes from wildly inflated Reverb prices, and b) you're buying digital models, not hardware.

Again, the PX-1 looks cool, despite some (IMHO) obvious flaws, so congrats! But it's just a modeller.
OK. What about just one vintage pedal? I don't think I've ever seen a Slow Gear for less than $400. So I get a Boss-approved emulation of a SG-1, plus 15 other emulations, for $150ish bucks less than that SG-1. Still no value?

I think if Line 6 did this with TODAY's rep they've developed; they would absolutely get away with it. Boss has always had a hard time with really anything as far as e-cred if it isn't old school stomps or selling barely revised Katanas every 2 years.

Don't know about the y'all, but I'd shop somewhere else the second L6 decided to begin selling model packs again.
Ah they have a really defensive user base at this point. Try saying something else sounds better and see what the responses are :ROFLMAO: I bet it would go over better than you think because they would deliver the L6 goods on it.

100+ Boss effects you don't have to pay extra for.
And exactly THAT is what I don't get about the paywall stance. I guess the PX algos won't sound lightyears better than the ones found in GT hardware. Maybe not even "10 bucks better".

And what's with the name? Better Plugout and plug into something without micro transactions then... 😂

Sorry Boss, not sorry. You whiffed it.

Re: comparing buying addons via Roland Cloud to buying Tonex captures or IRs ~ fwiw if Boss made this a platform where other people could make and sell effects you’d then load onto it, I’d be all for that. I wish Korg’s forays into that sort of thing had gone better, or they’d done a guitar pedal version!

But as it is, it’s a closed system, so imo it’s totally different from things (like Tonex captures and IRs) that anyone can make, and anyone can sell or give away completely outside of the Boss / Roland ecosystem.

It might still be okay for some people, and that’s fine and I get it, but I don’t see them as the same thing.
