Best LP knock off that actually stay in tune?

Ok, last question. On Reverb the Edwards are from $900 to $1,400 I notice they don't list the numbers of the specific models can you clarify the models in the LP line?

First reply was incomplete. Go to the link and click on these models. Each one is a different LP flavor.

I believe they still come with Gotoh hardware (mine did) but they’re using their in-house pickups now.

Shit, I should sell my Duncans, I don’t think I’ll ever use them.

Pretty sure you'd have to look long and hard to find a modern LP copy that stayed in tune WORSE than the LPs the cork sniffers like. Those had some of the worst tuners ever made....I guess wooden peg tuners may be slightly worse, its a toss up

If you have tuning issues it’s not the tuners. Good stringing up and tune UP to pitch and broken tuners will stay in tune perfectly.

Wooden pegs are better than most Grovers.

Tokai versus Epiphone -others?

I got a 59 Epi LP about 3-4 months ago for $599 from GC when they were running an instore sale and they have really stepped up their game compared to the Epi LP Custom I had about 20 years ago. Comes with Gibson Burstbuckers 2&3 which are $300 on Gibson website.

Had to level a few frets, gave it a good fret polish, and set the action, but after that unbelievable for the money.

This really caught my eye today.

I copied the relevant info from @sandmannn69's link about the country of origin.

Edwards originally were made entirely in Japan. But, from before I first started this thread in 2009, the initial manufacture of Edwards was in fact done at the ESP factory in Jixi, Heilongjiang, PRC. I do not know how much before then the production had moved to China, but at least a year. Sometime in the intervening years, complete production of Edwards was returned to Japan. The ESP China factory now produces lower end LTD models for export and three brands with which I am not familiar; Fearless, Pride, and Kaalena. I can find only one reference to any of these three brands on the internet, and thus assume they are for Chinese domestic sales only. Curiously enough, the one reference was on this forum with the writer asking about the name Kaalena. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/other-single-cuts/307141-help-me-id-headstock.html

Since 2009, The location of the factory has moved a short distance, into what appears to be a relatively new facility.

For the record, ESP states ESP guitars are built in our main factory and custom-shop located in Japan. These are completely built and assembled by highly skilled craftsmen using the best parts & wood selection. LTD guitars are produced in our factories outside of Japan (currently Korea, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam), and are manufactured in larger quantities using an assembly-line production method. This results in lower priced instruments.

The bottom line is that complete production of Edwards has returned to Japan after a brief interlude (at least 2009 maybe longer) when the initial phase of the manufacture (woodworking through painting) was done at the ESP China facility. While Edwards falls a little short of the Navagator line, the fit and finish are superb making Edwards guitars the most under-rated guitar brand in Japan. The bang-for-the-buck makes them one of the best buys around.

It’d make total sense to me, the attention to detail on mine isn’t something you see associated with budget models by any means.

Another +1 for Edwards here.

I had an LP-130-ALS that was fantastic. Ultimately sold it because the neck was thinner than I wanted, but it was super high quality in every way. It was also the lightest LP style guitar I’ve ever encountered.

Whelp got my Edwards today and 1st impressions are wow!! Tonight I will plug her in and do a review video!
Amazed it survived the trip from NY to Cali in a single box peanuts and the worst softshell case ever.

It sounds exactly like every LP I've owned acoustically and even stays in tune -so far! Thanks y'all :beer
