Best LP knock off that actually stay in tune?

I ain’t got me no problems with either of these!

Orville on the left and Edwards on the right.

That said, I don’t believe these are very far off from Gibson spec with headstock angles. I just lubed the shit out of my nuts.

What's a good price for a used Edwards?
Are they made by ESP? All Made in Japan?

Thanks!

Mine was $1030 in 2022 shipped from Japan to Florida, full cost, brand new. Gakkido covers all the customs BS on their end, I ordered via Reverb and a week later it was at my door, no e-mails in between or anything.

I think they raised prices this year $200-$300 bucks, but the dollar value changes day to day, I haven’t paid attention to how far it swings, but some days I see them listed for $890 and other days for $1050 or so.

I went down the Edwards rabbit hole a few months back-

Materials originate in Japan, get shipped to Russia where they’re then sent to China via train. ESP opened a small shop in China, about 120 employees who were all trained by the ESP Custom Shop and it’s essentially run by the ESP Custom Shop, they do the majority of the build there and they’re then sent to Japan for final finishing alongside the E-II’s. At least that was an ESP rep’s comments from a few years back.

Makes sense, the overall fit and finish on mine is rather spot on to my buddy’s E-II Horizon III, just a different shaped guitar. When I say it was flawless, I mean it was flawless. I wanna say we have 3-4 Edward LPC owners here. @la szum is one, I can’t remember who else grabbed one last year?

has anyone tried one of those string butlers?

seems like a good idea

Edwards are built well. I would look at Tokai too. I have worked on both of these for people and they were nice guitars.

As long as everything on the guitar is soundly built you can probably get them to stay in tune. It may require swapping some of the hardware like tuners or bridge to get there but it can probably be done.

10-15 years ago it was OK to be worried about the non-traditional countries producing guitars. Not any more with a LOT of them. Most of the brands sent scouts to audit factories all over and then the ones identified as having potential would go to the next stage of audit. Eventually you end up with a lot of very capable manufacturers who just need the training on guitar building in particular. I know with Ola Strandberg he hired Ed Yoon (who was John Suhr's long time right hand man) to spends weeks at a time with a team in Indonesia getting them up to speed.

I thought I had read that the Chinese Edwards shop was only a thing for a year or 2 and they are now fully built in Japan again? I dunno though its been a while since I was exploring that rabbit hole myself lol

Ah, I hadn’t read that but wouldn’t be overly surprised as all you can find about it is googling around and never finding anything officiall!

Mine won’t go away until I snag a white LPC. I’m hoping to snag an older Greco or Orville, but both companies only made them with ebony boards/nitro finishes for a short amount of time and most of the owners know what they have when they list ‘em, so I might just end up grabbing a white Edwards.

I could potentially see a 335 type in my future :bag

Ok, last question. On Reverb the Edwards are from $900 to $1,400 I notice they don't list the numbers of the specific models can you clarify the models in the LP line?
