Really just wanted an excuse to use “battlefight” in the thread title…

But…

Anyone played all 3 of these and have thoughts on pros/cons of each?

Ive had multiple Katanas, currently riding with a Spark 2, but there’s a Catalyst for sale locally for sub-$200 and it got me wondering.

I think they’re all really great choices for what they offer. I’ve only played the katana GEN two in GEN three artist and really like them hooked up together in stereo I mean for what they offer as far as what’s in the amps it’s an amazing value, but you have to like the tones. I think the new GEN three with the bloom button is really a pretty cool, but the spark is always interest me and also offers a lot for the price.
I’ve always wondered about the spark two versus THR 30 as they’re both kind of similar sized amps
I did play the catalyst for about an hour at the music store the newest catalyst and I still felt that the GEN three Catan offered more bang for the book and sounded pretty good. The catalyst didn’t sound bad but I preferred the katana.
That’s sad. I think that line 6 should continue with like catalyst Mark three or Mark two and just put a lot more effects available in there and even more amps at least more styles of amps.

Ive always been curious about the THR30 also. Never had a chance to play thru one.

Wasn’t L6’s whole thing with the Catalyst that it was supposed to be a simple plug-and-play amp without all the crazy Helix deep dive aspects?

Yes, but the second model of the catalyst I think had a few effects added in
