I've never tried a piece of Behringturd gear; the obviousness of their knock-offs is that repellent. So I have no idea how they sound.

Is the sound quality horrible as well?

I have a ton, and I very rarely even look at what's available any more. But if there are too many, then some will stop selling. That's the law of the jungle, so to speak.

I don't think there's such a thing as " too many pedals from which to choose".

You can choose based on your needs (simple, vs. complex; cheap, intermediate, or expensive, price range, etc.)

Once you start to determine which of those choices are needed, based on your playing style, your technical skills (in learning and actively using a pedal - whether at home, or on a stage), space considerations, the sound you're pursuing, and your budget limitations (to name a few factors), you can significantly narrow down your choices and go from there.

Some players still prefer to just plug in directly, or just stick with their old Tube Screamer and wah (or whatever) and leave it at that.

I like to have an abundance of tonal options (yes - that means a slew of pedals, for me) So, I'd rather have too many choices (which includes what pedals are currently available for purchase), than not enough. But, I understand, option paralysis is a thing and it can be overwhelming to some guitarists.
