Anyone here managed to master Reb Beach's two-fingered-two-handed tapping?

Title.

I'm on a huge Winger/Reb kick, but man trying to teach myself to run up scales like he can do with tapping just feels like learning another instrument entirely.

I haven't really studied any of Reb's solos closely (I do like him a lot as a player), but it seems like he is pretty open about not really using his left pinky, so approaching any place you would use your pinky during a lead with a tap instead would be a start.

The biggest obstacle back in the day was lines that started on an adjacent string with an open string note.
Where he starts the string with a right hand pluck

Descending? No problem. Ascending? Lord have mercy! I don’t think I will ever master that right-hand ring finger pluck of open notes.

Descending it still be a pluck. Only time it’s a no brainer if it’s a pull off to open string.
Although descending while tapping it’d be a higher string.

Like tap g string 12 and left hammer 11 9 7 slide to 5 pluck b open
Continue tap d string 7 left hand hammer 5 4 2 etc.

The same works great for say a e blues box lick in 12th fret. Descend from e string down any way you like. When you get to 12th fret d string the next note works be b on a string 14th fret.
Instead pluck that note as open b strung and continue down open position e blues box lick

That will buy you time to shift positions without tripping over your hands.
