I don't think I'll ever crack the code on the specific EJ Fuzz Face tone I'm going for, but this is an absolute treat to play with.

There's a good amount of 'navigating the medium' with this; the pick attack can be really chirpy so I have to be conscious of that and muting in general, this thing can be noisy, scratchy and all kinds of shit you don't want when playing. I really gotta bring this amp back to an empty suite at work, I need to hear this thing at ear bleed volume.

Sounds killer man, and great riffage! My only advice when it comes to finding different tones with the FF is to work that guitar volume knob a little, there's so many shades of fuzz between 10-7, great overdriven tones down to about 6, sparkly not quite clean around 5.

Also, I'm not sure where you had the FF set on the pedalboard, but if it was't perfectly aligned in a north-south direction, powered by an alkaline 9V, and being held to the board with a rubber band, youre doing it wrong and you'll never get that proper EJ tone. :D

Are they active pickups? Is that not like putting a buffer in front of your FF?
It's one of the reasons I weened off EMGs in most of my guitars. Never quite as good with a FF, thins out too much and gets a bit nasally. It can be a useable tone if that's what you're shooting for, but normal singles and passives sound much fuller and throaty.
