NCD: Trusting the Plan, Pt. 1

Hey guys. I've decided to spend a bit more time over here since there has been some sinister amendments to the ToS for other forums.

Anyways, sometimes when I'm bored at work I'll make these rig diagrams in MS Paint. They serve as sort of proof of concept, goal-oriented creative outlets come visual brainstorms.

Here's a few examples:

This is one I made in 2022 when I only had the Fractal. Good concept, but I'm not a dentist so I eventually went back to the drawing board for something a little more grounded (read: inexpensive - those Bogner cabs are 1) hare to find, and 2) not cheap).

Fast forward to this year I landed on this after considering using the 4x12's instead, I decided the 2x12's would suffice.

I've made so many of these but never quite committed to ensuring they come to fruition. Now, I may be jumping the gun a bit - I don't have the power conditioner or the floating rack case, but for the first time what I actually had planned as far back as 2022 is actually becoming a reality.

As of now I'm just waiting on the second Boogie cab to arrive from Australia:

Looking forward to dialing in some filthy, DRENCHED late 80's Lukather tones.

Cheers! And I hope you like my cool pictures.

That looks killer! I always thought an end game rig would be Fractal into stereo power amp and cab although I've never made that leap. Will be curious how you like it when completed.

I could probably do a poor man's version of this if I got a second Fender FR-12, but with more stereo power amps coming out that may be an option as well. I'd also be curious how a 2x12 would sound in stereo, not the widest but anyone who's played a JC-120 knows how amazing that can sound in real life with the speakers so close.

This is the type of goal setting I actually enjoy doing (as opposed to the corporate nonsense that I have to do every year).

Congrats on making your gear dreams into reality! I wish you many years of good health and financial wellbeing to enjoy what you've built.

I've had the Fractal since 2021 and it's kind of been a bumpy ride. Lots of learning curves & teething issues. Also, there are some crucial things to set to make sure the Fractal and the Fryette are meshed together properly, e.g. Fractal set to +4 dBu and pushing the level button IN (+4 dBu) on the 2/90/2. It does sound good but I think I'm still "optimising my knowledge" as it were. For instance, I've been running the saturation switch on the "On (Ideal)" setting 100% of the time, but when I spoke to Gemini (Google AI) about it, it told me I should turn it off almost all the time as my 2/90/2 is saturating anyway. Now I have to learn to tweak good sounds without it.

Re: 2x12 in stereo: I've done it with my old 4x12 and it can sound good. It's kind of like listening to a song on your phone's speakers: technically it's in stereo and avoids certain phasing issues, but it's always going to sound better with a proper stereo image. I can't wait for my second 2x12 to arrive.

Welcome and Nice! Personally I think the vertical Mesa split back cabs are better sounding than the Bogners no matter how many teeth you need to pull to afford one or the other.
So far I'm extremely happy with mine. It doesn't sound a hell of a lot smaller than my old OS recto 4x12.
