I would love to play in a tribute band assuming I didn't have to pretend to look like the original member.

Actually I think it'd be a lot of fun to be in a "serial tribute" band that learned different sets of different bands. So one gig you could do Weezer covers and another you're doing Green Day, etc.

Absolutely. That's what I was trying to achieve with my previous band.

We knew several Iron Maiden and AC/CD songs and few Whitesnake ones. With a little effort and lot of fun we could have prepared 3 mini tributes and start from there.

My idea idea was to do "tribute nights" with a set list that had the tribute section placed in the second half of the setlist, plus an opening song or two to set the night mood and few snippets throughout the first half of the night.

I think is also a good way to sell your show to the same venues.

Playing only one band's music for an entire gig would not be my jam. Even if I loved every one of their tunes (I never do), I'd get sick of the same shit over and over.

That's a completely different kettle of fish. A good cover band could easily aggregate tunes by a given band together and perform sets or parts of sets with "tributes."

Well, it at least seemed like a good idea. :rofl

That's what this band does and they are awesome.

Their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody was incredible

The lead singer of that band is a plump sports radio guy in Chicago. People have abilities you'd never expect on first impression.

Did they just take the stomping T-Rex from Dinosaur Comics and add a guitar for their logo?
