3D Printed Guitar/Music Accessories?

Spent an hour measuring and cloning the MXR style knob that I like so much. I need to make a couple adjustments, but for a first pass, this looks great (to me). I can definitely see this being a viable alternative to buying knobs at $0.70 a pop.

Also, the "ironing" feature found in most modern slicers is insane. Here's a comparison - same model, printed side by side, but I added a topside ironing to one knob. It still has the inevitable marks of an FDM print, but the topside is so much cleaner.

What kind of printer are you guys using? The projects in this thread are inspiring. Especially the accessories for your modelers.

I dabbled in 3D printing around 10 years ago. I had my stuff printed by Shapeways. My music-related project was some parts to support my Roland hard drive recorder’s conversion to SD card media.

I copied the shape of the existing Roland hard drive caddy to mount an IDE-SD card adapter to do mobile recording when I was broke.

I have a Qidi XMAX 3. It’s not perfect, but it’s been very good to me. It’s got a massive print volume, an active chamber heater (for materials like nylon and ABS), and I’ve got a diamond-tip nozzle on mine, which is supposed to be praxtically indestructible from normal use. I’m about to put that claim to the rest with some filaments infused with carbon fiber and glass fiber.

My gripes are minor. It’s huge and finding a good “print station” was challenging. I settled on an IKEA Bror unit. And mine has a clicky bearing that requires pretty regular fiddling. Doesn’t seem to have impacted print quality but holy shit is it annoying.
