3/4 size strat string gauge

I bought my 6 ,year old son a squier mini strat 3/4 sized guitar but don't really know what strings to put on it for him. It came with 9-42s but they're like rubber bands.

Has anyone got one of these? What do you use on yours and what tuning do you keep it in?

Tune it higher. Like a capo on the 3rd.

That did it, it plays fine in G. I'll order some new 9s for it. Cheers @Eagle
