And one position of Am .The only disadvantage to 24 frets is all the old heads that swear real guitars/guitarists only need 21.

The position of the neck pickup on an SG is identical to a 24fret guitar.I don't really mind the visualization, but it does make more sense compared to 21/22.
I don't like single coils in the neck, most tend to sound anemic. Humbuckers are cool, but not like on LP's or SG's. Being back a bit they get a bit more attack, makes things clearer especially with higher gain, more shred oriented tones.
That's a term I haven't heard in a while!all the old heads
Didn't know that! Now I understand why I could use more gain on it compared to LPs without it getting muddy. Never had both with exactly the same pickup, so I always attributed that to pickups, or just thought it was an "SG thing". Also never really had an SG with the same pickups as a 24 fret shredder to compare . Will factor that in from now on.The position of the neck pickup on an SG is identical to a 24fret guitar.
Might also be the 25" scale helps with that too.I prefer the sound of a neck pickup on a 21 or 22 fret guitar.
That said, I don’t know how PRS did it, but the Vintage Bass sounds great in the neck position of my CE-24. Perhaps they tuned the resonant peak to give it a 22 fret-esque sound?
So you hate the SG then?I just can’t get over the way the neck pickup sounds on a 24 fret guitar. My ear is just tuned to the way it sounds with the placement on a 21/22 fret guitar. It’s a shame, because functionally I like the 24 fret better for the full two octaves.
