2 new additions to the rack :)

Awesome stuff guys ;)

Same here.
Some people call me crazy because it can all be done with plugins. But when i compare the plugins sound "without character and less 3d" and for the money... A nice lexicon can be bought for 100-200 now a days if you don't hunt for the most advanced ones.

I indeed looked for the marshall power amp.
The valvestate sounds great but when i saw the engl on marketplace for a nice price I opted for that one. It's a beast.

In the UK they come up fairly often and being 4u nobody wants them but they are basically two JCM 800 power sections in a box with the old transformers. Really good and hugely underrated.

Totally agree.
They ask 400-600 for them which is a steel.
I never compared the marshall to the ENGL but I mostly was interested in the two separe channels with 2 inputs per channel. In a recording setup it makes the amp very versatile.

It also has some mystic Powers seeing only 65 were build (i believe). ;)

I believe you.
For me it's also part of being able to buy all the goodies i lusted for as a kid.

Next to the girls and bands i had posters from rack gear on the walls ;) so being able to now get them for next to nothing is very addicting. And going to the presets always inspires me to record new tracks.

That’s the whole vintage and memorabilia market in one ! At the expensive end you buy the actual pieces.

I posted this the other day. Exactly that (not mine) fun to get to play it though.

@FrankD77 ,

I love that Samson Rack. Would you recommend a model for me. I also am curious about your PatchBays. Looks like they might be Behrin_gers. Might you recommend one of those, as well.

As far as the rack, I am thinking perhaps a unit that could accommodate eight 1U racks. Besides my Lexicon PCM 70, it will also need to accommodate at least three more 1U rack units (Roland SRV-330, Lexicon MPX-1, and Rocktron Xpression), and a Furman AR-15 II Voltage Regulator...plus the future PatchBay.

Here's my SRV-330 and the MPX-1. I have long outgrown my 4U flight/touring rack. This new rack would be studio-based. Is there wheels on your Samson rack?

How do you like the Golden compared to the MPX-1?

The UA Golden is some serious kit. It has my favorite Plate and Hall reverbs, for a pedal…and can be favorably compared with my Lexicon MPX-1…if you are only comparing the Plate and Hall reverbs

However, the SRV-330 is a step above…sonically.

The Lexicon PCM-70 is on another level, still. it is so warm and lush and 3-dimensional. In a class of its own — sui generis.

I have considered picking up a Golden. I like the MPX-1 and Axe-Fx II for Reverb, but have thought about a Golden for something simpler to deal with and that doesn't require a rack parallel mixer.

In all honesty i bought the Samsung when i had 5-6 units, somehow i knew ;)

It's cheap and has wheels. I personally would not know why not. Unless you want something fancy with wood and build in lights i think the Samsung does fine.

I have two b-ehringer patch panels and one other brand. Bought them on marketplace for 20-30,00

If you're using it for pro recording maybe there are some things to say about more expensive ones but i have zero complaints. It just works.

For me it's mostly the fun to get great results with budget vintage gear. So i have a sort of price limit on my gear.

The 90001, 8008 and quadraverb GT (VG88) i still had from when i bought them in my teens ;) the rest i started collecting just before COVID hit.

Love your rig and setup. Thanks for the feedback. (y)
