Zakktera Rig Rundown

I’ve still managed to not hear one second of Phil and the Boys, not even by accident with a video coming on during autoplay or something, quite the accomplishment lol
I heard his rig in context of Zakk Sabbath. I hope when we see Pantera in May it'll be a little drier than it was for that?

I went to the show last year because:

a- I got free tickets
b - Lamb of God was opening

It was not a bad show. Very different than the real Pantera, which I've seen many times in the 90s, but not a bad show in its own right. Phil sounded great, Charlie and Rex sounded killer and Zakk sounded great too, just in his style, which is very different than Dime and throws the whole band sound in a different direction, but I honestly prefer it that way than someone trying to imitate Dime.

so is it Pantera? No. Is it bad? Also no.

I am fine with the changes. Other than the reasons why the changes happened, obviously. My biggest thing with Zakk's tone at the Sabbath show was that it was too chorused yet somehow super distant sounding? Still played like a champ and it was a good show. Pantera calls for a TIGHT guitar tone so I am mainly waiting to see how the Zakk approach hits in the whole band mix? It'll be a fun time no matter what though \m/

Definitely tighter than his usual BLS/Zakk Sabbath tone but not nearly as tight as Dime's tone.

I think he's trying to find a balance point between playing the songs correctly while keeping some of his tone/style. Which is probably the right approach for this. Zakk started out that way (filling after Randy and Jake) so he knows how to do this without overstepping or being completely off..

i never heard zakk sabbath either. Pantera is my favorite band, i just cant get into this though. Phil, Rex, Zakk and Charlie would have been a cool new band that could have done an extended Pantera tribute at shows and i think that would have been cool, i guess thats not gonna fill arenas though. what i really is just a new Down record :idk
